Cilla Black dies, 72

 how is providing a link or a pic in anyway compromise them?
what they post does not make sense a lot of the time and without links, it looks like it's made up
also ignoring almost everyone when they question it is just plain rude, especially when they ask others for more details on their posts

I'm sure she was not very nice - but the same can probably said of some celebs who supported Kinnock or Blair. The bit about her writing to the mothers of dockers stating she didn't care if they starved is almost certainly bullshit.

Granted, such a reply would have been extraordinarily unwise in a city populated by huge numbers who have the 19thC Irish famines in their backgrounds. Maybe some embroidering has occurred - it happens.

Not only unwise but unlikely given her dads job (a docker) and where she grew up (Scotland Road).

The outpouring of bile because Black voted Tory rather than for Kinnock/Blair is generally pathetic but this is risible.

If you think the feeling here is simply because Black voted Tory rather than for Kinnock/Blair, then I suggest you haven't read the thread properly

"The outpouring of bile because Black voted Tory rather than for Kinnock/Blair is generally pathetic but this is risible"

Voting Tory isn't good. Voting Labour is little better. Cilla's death was never going to produce an outpouring of sympathy or respect on a progressive forum, mainly because she was a Daily Wail type individualist with a high regard for big bucks in her bank account and bugger the rest.

In the end she is unimportant.

I have read the thread - the charges seem to be a) A Tory b) friends with other celebs also Tory and mainly also from Liverpool c) not popular with users of a cabin crew forum d) not very nice to people.

On that basis some people on here must spend most of their lives sneering at dead people?

If you can't do it on the internet, where can you? I doubt it's "most of their lives", but why not an hour or two a week? Nice release for all that work stress and stuff. You can't look at porn ALL the time either.

People are merely responding to the ridiculous levels of guff in the media about "out cilla" when she was notorious for being consistently unpleasant to anyone she saw as unimportant, And she didn't just vote tory - she was a very public fan of thatcher - and mate and defender of Jimmy Saville.
No way! Really?

Your summary demonstrates that you haven't read it very carefully
  • Not merely a Tory voter, but explicitly lending her vocal support to Tory campaigning
  • Not merely friends with various celebs, but explicitly defending those accused of child abuse, those accusations eventually proven
  • Not merely not popular or not very nice to people, but in fact someone who used their postion as a celeb to behave badly to ordinary people at every turn
But even so, your characterisation of this thread as "outpourings of bile" and "sneering at dead people" are pure hyperbolic nonsense.

Do you perhaps have a particular reason for such a distorted summary and response?

Possibly an early fan?

Bar finding it puerile, pathetic and based on loads of 'my mate heard' evidence the answer is no. But as you've asked the question what do you think the 'particular reason' might be?

This is a matter of public record, not something 'my mate heard'...
In April 1992, she got up on behalf of the Conservatives during their election rally. 'I'm voting for John Major,' she informed the audience, 'because he is a great Prime Minister. Because he doesn't punish success, he promotes it.'
Class traitor, pure and simple.

Cilla looked to have had considerable cosmetic dentistry. No evidence, its just that her appearance softened as her wealth increased.

More transparent misrepresentation.

I really don't know what the reason might be, and TBH I'm not bothered enough to engage with you on this subject any longer.

Might be a bit more complicated as she owned property and died in Spain, so will be subject to Spanish laws.
But I expect she will have had the best tax avoidance lawyers in Spain and UK giving her advice before her demise.
probably hastened her death, exposure to lawyers

Its a bit sad that Paul O'Grady (who has some class consciousness and appears quite left wing), is apparently devastated by the Cilla demise.

Maybe its regional solidarity?
