Buying a home and don't know how anything works

couldn't find a thread on "tiny homes"
so i'll post here

Tiny homes are fascinating but when faced with the hurdles of planning permission and the sheer cost of land in the south east it’s all a bit silly to pay a couple of hundred grand for a glorified bothy.

I love looking at pictures and videos of Tiny Homes.

But quite often with the UK ones it turns out they are in Mummy and Daddy's garden which presumably means you don't have to pay for the land and you can pop in for a bath or shower.

It's one of those ones where it probably would have been cheaper to knock it all down and build from scratch, but good effort in semi- preserving it.

The only sad thing is given the size of the windows it's probably quite dark inside. More or larger rooflights would have brought more light in but that was probably out of budget.

Gentleman and Van are booked for the moving date in two weeks. Broadband being connected in two weeks and two days.

Contracts being exchanged in one week.

We are currently melting in the heatwave and dreaming of our future home which has a garden.

Still loads of packing to do. Boxes piling up high.

Wish me luck!

Our solicitors are excellent, they respond immediately to my requests by phone or email. Amazing, I know!
To be fair our solicitor isn’t bad, always responds quickly. We used him when we bought the house and he seemed more proactive then but maybe we pushed a lot more when buying 11 years ago.

We are lucky that we are only in a chain of one and their buyers are first time buyers so hopefully it will start moving.

First questions are on parking permits, how you get them and what it costs… the buyers already live in Lambeth!

Lots of other stupid questions but this one stood out…

Ah to be fair, they may not live in a CPZ currently. But yeah that one they could have easily Googled.
Not sure there’s anywhere in Lambeth with CPZ now. I have googled it and can’t tell them how much it will cost as I don’t know what type of car they have! :)

It all looks fairly straight forward - some of the questions relate to them clearly not reading our initial property form properly!

JGTFK today!

Took until nearly 1pm before we got the keys but it was worth the wait.

Gentleman with van were amazing. Thank you for the recommendation shakespearegirl.

Best of luck all in your continuing purchases.

Lots of unpacking for me and Mrs Catfan and Catfan junior to do over the coming week.
