4 minute warning?

I'll probably turn if off in my phone settings before the test then turn it back on afterwards - due to ASD I find loud sudden noises distressing, even down to stuff like my door buzzer.
I'm OK with having my phone make loud siren noises if there is something actually going on that I need to be warned about, but having it happen for a test will be upsetting and not strictly necessary, if I can opt out just for the test and turn it back on afterwards, I'll do that.

I don't believe we'll get a warning, unless there's some leak or mistake. In the US, there's no shelters for anyone but the military and VIPs. There's no point warning us if there's little you can do about it.

All those guns though, wall of superheated air and radiation, meet wall of lead!

if other people with phones are near you at the time then you will hear it anyway unfortunately :(

At my work our maintainence staff test the fire alarm every friday morning which gives me a small heart attack every time they do it

Seems a bit daft advertising when there's going to be a test. Every Bond villain's going to be hell bent on detonating their mega-weapon at the same time to catch everyone out.

"It's okay. Just a test. Oh balls.."

yes they do. or rather many of them oxidise over time - you might have seen eg silver tarnish.
Yes but they are still compounds of whatever they started off as. The iodine isn't going to turn into lead or something else and as it's the iodine you need then as long as the body can absorb it it will be fine.

there are many compounds of iodine you really would not want in your body. arthur machen's 'the white powder' is a cautionary tale of taking medicine after its use-by date The Novel of the White Powder

Imagine being in a crowded public place when this goes off?

I might sue the government for acoustic shock :hmm:

"URGENT Goverment Warning!!!!!! You must go out and vote Conservative today or Labour will .... blah
..blah....etc...etc..."

If my phone is turned off and we get either an Amber Alert or a tornado warning, my phone turns itself on. Freaked me out good the first time it happened. The new ones will call 911 if you're in a car accident.
A friend caused a panic for his wife when he had this or similar feature enabled on a new IPhone and had it with him whilst doing some aerobatic practice, this crap is getting silly
