2016 album recommendations - too soon?

Ebm then?
Nah, not quite. Coldwave started out as French & Belgian bands trying to sound like Joy Division before going in a more electronic synthpop direction. Depends how much of a genre fascist you want to be whether you include some industrial & EBM stuff as coldwave, as there's some crossover in the sounds. Probably because they were using the same synths as that's all was available at the time.

I guess the music comes before the name for all genres doesn't it?
Yeah, but I thought it was a mid 00s music blog description rather than something coined at the time.

Anyway, I know what it is. I even own that cold wave & minimal electronics comp...

Haha. Interesting. So Visage, early Ultravox and a bit of Clan of Xymox then basically. With a French accent.

This. Very very this.
It's hard to know how to describe it exactly. ''Blackened Space-Kraut Psychemetalia'' maybe. They're from Finland anyway and to me that's always a good sign.

Was that at Sala Sirroco? I went to see him there last year and it was fucking great.

Ah no unfortunately not! It was at La Casa Encendida, so finished at 10:30PM and made me think it was a massive waste that he hadn't played somewhere like Siroco. When did he play last year??

Another recommendation - Scott Sorry's debut album, When We Were Kings:

If you like shouty, punky rock and roll, check it out. :)
