n May 2010, Davey refused to meet Alan Bates, the post office operator who led the campaign to expose the scandal and whose story has now been told in an ITV drama, saying he did not believe it “would serve any purpose”.Bates has described the Lib Dem minister’s 121-word response as not just “disappointing” but “offensive”
Where does Norman Lamb manage to get into this?As the countdown to next GE is on worth bumping this thread - these piss yellow hypocrites are no alternative to anything
Davey, Lamb and squirrel killer Swinson all ministers responsible for the Post Office during the Horizon scandal - so imprisoning innocent people, another LD win here.
What smear?BTW the smear on Ed Davey is being Tweeted out by most of the barmy right wing Tory MPs - presumably the ones with most to fear from LD blue wall vote switching.
Everything/anything to do with the piss-streak collaborationist party means nothing, tbfLD are the only party to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, prolly means nothing though
yeah just a soundbite to get their snouts nearer the troughEverything/anything to do with the piss-streak collaborationist party means nothing, tbf
That Ed Davey refused to meet the Alan Bates the leader of the Horizon-affected postmastersWhat smear?

He met him apparently. How it true that he refused to meet? How is it a smear when it's true?
The (warning: LD site) yellow streak have gone to great lengths to rebut the accusation that Davey did not meet Alan Bates. What is not in doubt is that Davey, just like all the other ministers involved, told the sub-postmasters that he believed POL and there was nothing he could do.He met him apparently. How it true that he refused to meet?
Smells like a smokescreen this morning, to hide the rest of the 10+ ministers who were in a similar role as DaveyThe (warning: LD site) yellow streak have gone to great lengths to rebut the accusation that Davey did not meet Alan Bates. What is not in doubt is that Davey, just like all the other ministers involved, told the sub-postmasters that he believed POL and there was nothing he could do.
Alan Bates doesn't hold Ed Dave "more responsible"
LD are the only party to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, prolly means nothing though
Good question.Has any senior Lib Dem figure ever admitted that their wipeout in the general election after the coalition government was punishment for collaboration with the Tories or do they still trot out the "consequence of taking tough decisions" excuse they used at the time?
And the Greens FWIWNot true.

I think Moran said something mealy mouthed, but most - including Davey - still defend the austerity policies they enacted. Policies that killed people.Has any senior Lib Dem figure ever admitted that their wipeout in the general election after the coalition government was punishment for collaboration with the Tories or do they still trot out the "consequence of taking tough decisions" excuse they used at the time?
Sir Ed was asked about his record in the Conservative-Lib Dem coalition government when he served as energy secretary under David Cameron.
He acknowledged that they had "had tough decisions to make" and added that "all governments make mistakes". He argued that the Liberal Democrats had offset the "Tory agenda" and said the Liberal Democrats would reverse some coalition policies such as the bedroom tax, if they got into power.
They must have - not that it was ever broadcast. I was in the count at the 2014 Lambeth council election when the late Daphne Hayes-Mojon - twice Mayor of Lambeth - was visibly shaken and actually said "He who sups with the devil should have a long spoon" (14th century anonymous incidentally). So having lost ALL their councillors in Lambeth in 2014 was certainly a strong warning sign.Has any senior Lib Dem figure ever admitted that their wipeout in the general election after the coalition government was punishment for collaboration with the Tories or do they still trot out the "consequence of taking tough decisions" excuse they used at the time?
And Plaid Cymru.Not true.
