Why do you want to shut down McDonalds?

Chips over fries every time and it's much much more than food snobbery. I can't stand MCs as a company.

French fries are by no means an exclusively McDonald's thing. Plenty of smaller outlets offer them, and in my experience they can be superior to those from McDonald's, which can be cold and limp.

Will do their veggie burgers when they have them but otherwise they can fork off.

I spent a long time living on one of Hong Kong's outlying islands, where most of the residents, and restaurants, went strictly vegan for three days for an annual festival.

Every year, the sole McDonald's on the island joined in and turned its menu completely vegan and every year, I respected that so much that I tried one of their veggie burgers. They were without a doubt the worst burgers I have ever eaten, vegetarian or non-vegetarian - not sure what the fuck they were made from, though there was definitely an absurd amount of sweetcorn in there - but I appreciated the effort.

Tbh, rarely go to either of the mac outlets but BK have certainly improved their veggie burger, had one last year that was barbecue or char grilled and it was heavenly.

Would have loved to visit HK.

Was that the one in breadcrumbs? I think that's the Vegetable Deluxe, which is more like a shaped vegetable rissole with lots of sweetcorn. Here they also do a McPlant burger, which is the pea protein fake meat type of thing that most are familiar with. They're alright. Same as most of the others.

If we’re talking other countries (and why not I guess?) I remember visiting Berlin where I saw some local malcontents put through Maccy Ds windows and simply wait for the cops to show up.
Rinse and repeat the next day.
It only happened here as part of a wider protest.

It's exactly what they are. This notion that they mash them into some kind of slurry then form them into chip shapes is ridiculous. Why would they piss about doing that when they can just cut the fucking spuds into the shape they want in the first place?
Such a thing exists and looks lovely:

MacDonald's' are cut from potato though. There's usually a bit of eye to prove it. They are sprayed and soaked in various other ingredients before cooking but so are oven chips etc.
