when thatcher dies...

War is the peak of political murder you fucktard piece of shit.

Also the BNP are cunts but they have murdered a lot less people in the pursuit of their policies than the Labour Party, or does it not count when it's only foreigners with swarthy skin that are bombed to further political agendas?

I believe the point I was making was that political murder was wring. In this case the attack and killing by the IRA. I further believe it is wrong to condone such murder as we have seen here. While the war in Iraq was clearly the work of idiots, it's not in the scope of a direct political murder.
Does the second part of your post imply that I have a tad of racism showing?

How is it not direct political murder?

How is it different than the IRA's bombing campaign, both are obviously political in nature and both killed both soldiers and civilians to try and achieve it.

The only difference is the IRA could only have dreamed of such displays of shock and awe.

you're just a silly fuck who can't comprehend the notion of the state as an active political agent with it's own terrorist measures.

I do comprehend it but it's not what I was talking about. I was opposing the posters who were glorifying the IRA murders not justifying a war.

What's the difference between IRA volunteers who kill and British troops who do the same?

A wage packet?

So Blair and his head case mates jumped into bed with Bush.
I agree they were well wrong but how does that justify posters who like the IRA's attempt to kill Thatcher and their successful murder and maiming of so many others?

Who said it justified it?

Saying that if the Provos had managed to take out Thatcher I'd not have shed any tears.

I feel hitting my head against a brick wall would be more productive.
Please show me any post of mine that justifies the war in Iraq.
Can you justify political murder as some are doing here?

wtf..
Thatcher has blood on her hands.. she was a murderer from shoot to kill in NI to Belgrano... a friend and supporter of dictators Pinochet et al..

she destroyed english communities and even stole the milk from the children...

The only redeeming factor will be if she dies slowly in pain haunted by the many innocences she destroyed or killed...

Yes I can justify political murder in some cases, I could certainly have no problem ethically justifying the murder of Thatcher or Blair even if I think it politically misguided or have no great love for those that would do it.

It doesn't. It means that both the IRA and our government are guilty of political murder.

You really should get your head out of your arse and visit these places, you know.

She destroyed families and communities.
Absolutely.

I've said this before, but there should be a memorial in every town to the lives ruined and communities destroyed. We must mourn. And we must never forget.

Not that I'd condemn anybody celebrating Thatcher's death, but is there not a danger of slipping from politics into maudlin self-pity in treating mourning what's already gone as a matter of principle?

We've got (ding dong the witch is dead) t-shirts printed already

Oh man, get a mailing list out, with me on it. Better still, get me one so there's no time wasted on the actual day, I could get out of bed in it

Remember when she was booted out, a good day

Hahahahaaaa

:)

especially since it was a dangerous and shit industry that destroyed lives and the environment.

Well as long as we don't end up viewing mining with rose tinted glasses.
I wasn't referring exclusively to mining or mining communities. As for the rose-tinted glasses, I'm from generations of miners and am in no danger of that optical occlusion.

Interesting case in point. The mining industry was destroyed in a very short-sighted fashion. Coal faces aren't exactly easy to recover once they've flooded, yet the energy independence offered by coal was a long-term asset that should have been protected (whatever you think of the miners and Scargill). Just to add insult to injury, they were closed on the basis of free-marker purism - foreign coal was cheaper, ergo mines are uneconomical and must be closed. Yet much of the foreign coal that we were importing (mostly German at the time, IIRC) was produced by industries that were supported by state subsidy. Not exactly a level playing field - and we were always being told that our mines needed to be economical and compete on a level playing field.

I'm talking about never forgetting the vicious attack on community, on families, on a whole class. We need the anger.

It's not gone goon. Of course there's danger -there's DANGER in the existence of trains, are you against trains?

Oh come on, you know what he means and there definitely is a tendency to romanticise and fixate on the past, especially around the miners.

Come the fuck on, you know that people mean the real communties they grew up in and how they've been destroyed, mining is incidental. And more importantly the there is no society bollocks - attack her on that. Not people from ex-mining areas for expressing themselves not quite right.

Is that more relvent or is an abstract defence/attack on mining the kety issue here?

The mining industry was tough and dangerous but some would argue that what they got in its place - mass unemployment, poverty, depression, a lack of dignity and a near-total collapse of communities - was a lot, lot worse.
