    Lazy Llama

when thatcher dies...

Ever been to any of the ex-mining towns and villages in south Wales and talked to the locals?

No I have not. And I have no doubt that some of the decisions that needed making did not benefit everybody but I honestly believe that those decisions needed making and that her electoral success went on to show that more people benefited than suffered.

With my serious head on and not just me reacting to what I see as a disgusting wish to celebrate the death of somebody whose only crime was to be the first woman Prime Minister and win three elections tends to make me react in a less than logical manner myself.

Well I will be happy to be up in London, my home city, to express my views should this mythical Trafalgar square event actually happen but with much else that you on the left try to organize its got about two hopes of happening.

And any lariness will be a reaction to you supposed leftie street fighting types.

But I think its very telling that the left can only celebrate the death of a person. Nothing positive or constructive. But its all par for the course with you lot.

The modern definition of a busted flush. And no matter how many litres of white lightning you pour down your throats the Ladys legacy is going to be all around and your celebrations will always be nothing more than the sort of noises a corpse might make after being left to rot for a couple of days.

So, you can get all lairy behind a keyboard but shirk from making sure these 'workshy' types-interesting phrase for miners/former miners-actually get to hear/see your disgust. Plenty of gob behind a keyboard eh?!

I don't think i'll be going anywhwere to 'celebrate' or mourn, might wander to my mates to watch the fawning coverage on SKY or the deluded coverage on Fox News.

I think you'll find the 'The Left' will organise very little in this regard, it may well be the reaction of ordinary people without any prompting, not that you'll be able to respond without your pavlovs dog frothing replies.

you're funny.

The sort of daft cunt you see at an Al Murray gig waving a Union Jack and missing the gag.

Spot the 'serious head' fawning when it's Editor taking your attitude up with you.

It wasn't a crime to be a woman PM or win 3 elections. What idiotic thought process makes you come up with that frankly fucking suprious irrelevant drivel?

'Crime' is an interesting word, acts of class hatred against millions of peiople would be more accurate. The dcimation of the steel, coal and shipbuilding industry. Economic vandalism on a scale unseen before in the UK..... They might be justifiable reasons to dislike her. The bioggest group who didn't like that she was a female PM were on your side of the fence you clueless fucking oaf.

You really should get your head out of your arse and visit these places, you know.

She destroyed families and communities.

You means decisions like the one to destroy Britains Industrial base or to strip us off our energy security for party political gain?

It's easy for you to say that, from your comfortably blinkered position in the south-east, but in many parts of the country you won't find that many who agree with you.

FWIW I'm not very interested in celebrating anyone's death, but I shan't be at all sorry when the rancid old bag finally shuffles off this mortal coil.

*e2a* The 'workshy fucktards' remarks just make you look like a petulant little kid who can't deal with the fact that some people don't share your opinion.

To be fair he asked me a straight forward question.

But its very telling that on a thread that calls on people to celebrate the death of an old lady anybody who expresses an opinion that this partying might garner an unpleasant response from those who do not share the `joy` gets the reaction it has says a lot about the state of the British left.

However since she took the left and literally beat it to death and made it into the electorally insignificance that it is today then I guess I should leave you all to have your little revenge fantasys. She turned you all into fearful little puppies whilst she was alive so it might be good for you to have a final little party. View it more as your own wake, as opposed to hers because she finished you off and turned you into the nothings that you are today.

That's the sound of 'retreat'.

Fearful 'little puppies', you really are a dribbling fantasist aren't you? And she is still alive you fucking oaf. Sweet fucking jesus, if this is the calibre of Thatchers defenders then she really isn't gonna have a very good send off.
And again, no logical follow through. If those who may raise a glass or two on her demise are 'nothings' why are you even bothering to get flustered and behaving like an angry rejected version of Harry Enfield's 'Tory boy'?

so, stoat boy, these electoral results you keep banging on about. Looked them up yet? :)

You mean the three wins ? Followed by another victory for her successor and then a Labour Government that propose a state funeral for her ?

Maybe you are right, perhaps she really was a failure.

I asked you straight forward questions too, but you didn't seem to be able to deal with those. Or maybe you were just fawning with the one you chose to answer, I think that's more likely the case.

There's a variety of views re the partying on this thread, in case you hadn't noticed. But as I said earlier, your attitude is doing a grand job of convincing me (for example) of the relative benefits.

Your world view seems as though it's through a rosy prism of when Thatcher's policies benefited you. When they cease to benefit your individualistic self any longer, I wonder if you'll change your tune.

a lot of people think thatcherism is probably over with this recession. it will be interesting to see if it's true. the countries with manufacturing bases are starting to pull out of it after about a year but i can't see england managing to go back to the way it was.....my mates in newcastle always say it feels like it's still getting worse when i speak to them....

You mean the three wins ?

she won, but she at no point had more than a minority backing in nationwide terms. so all this shit you're spouting about "several people loving her to every one who hates her" is just unfounded nonsense.

As per.

I think El Jefe may be referring to Thatchers, and Majors failure, to win a majority of the electorate. So, those who 'supported' her were never even in a majority. Not anything that botehrs me as i've never been of the opinion that the 'majority is always right', but it does point to a certain flaw in your claims.

even aside from any argument about the merits of her economic policy her foreign and social policies were really cunty as well

well quite, i wouldn't use electoral results as any kind of measure except Scrote Boy keeps banging on about the overwhelming support he seems to believe she had.

whilst i utterly despise thatcher and all she stood for, i have to wonder what she did to deserve such shitfer apologists as you.

Talk about splitting hairs. Lady T won three elections. Thats a simple fact. Now if you want to argue about the nature of our electoral system then I am sure that there are plenty of threads about that but to bring that up on here just smacks of desperation.

As to the person talking about me making a retreat then perhaps its a valid point. This place is unashamedly left wing and I accept that I am the unwanted fart in the lift but to see so many people wanting to celebrate the death of an old lady says it all really. Perhaps I have been overly aggressive by way of my response but the hypocrisy of the reaction only serves to convince me even more that the left in this country is not only irrelevant but also nasty, snidey and more about the individuals egos than anything else.

You are aware of the voting patterns in ares like Wales, yes?

The legacy of her vile policies was that the Tories failed to win a single seat in 1997 and 2001 and only had a pathetic six seats in 1992. I'd say that makes the Tory government a complete failure in Wales.

That means you won't be joining it then. Good.

Your inability to define your own terms let alone your utter inability to define 'left wing' makes such a claim rather redundant.
And given that British humour is predicated on 'fart/arse jokes' I doubt very much anyone would compare you to a 'fart in a lift' given the obvious nod to British humour that such an event would be. You're neither funny nor culturally relevant, just a really poor advocate for and an utterly shite proponent of the defence of Thatcher.

the thing is that many of us wish she had never lived to become an old woman. i neither know nor care whether that moderates or exacerbates what you consider our sin.
