What's in your glass?

This is a lime mint shake. It is simply the best drink in the world. Why nobody does them in UK I have no idea. You do have a summer. Sometimes.

Very quaffable draught stout from those who shall not be mentioned on urban.
£1.75 a can on 4 for 3 at Tesco. Comes up at £1.31 a tin.

Very drinkable.

Valoroso Cabernet Sauvignon Touriga Nacional Syrah
Bit dense. First time I’ve felt the need to decant it a couple of hours before drinking it

Tuesday is kind of like our Saturday right, due to work patterns, I poured OH a glass of Fino to have with his dinner, went to serve up the food, and came back in to find he'd topped up the glass with some energy drink.

His excuse for this was "yes but raspberry relentless goes with everything"

I just can't even...

:(

A nice cup of Darjeeling tea (made with loose leaves in a teapot). The packet has the following rather archaically phrased instructions that seem to imply fetching water from a well:

I have 2 questions. Firstly, when was the last time you said “I shall draw you a bath”? Secondly, is there are scientific reason why water cannot be re-boiled? 🤔

Also we are going to get into a whole massive does milk go in first or last debate here which could quite frankly be far worse than the cheese or beans first debate and result in a massive schism

(You only need to put milk in first if you are using delicate china crockery btw which is why posh people are more likely to do it that way)

Also if someone asked me to draw them a bath the result might not be what they expected
(Like more probably will be a pencil sketch of a bath than me running water for them)

The solubility of gasses in water is inversely proportional to the temperature, hence the boiling of water drives out the dissolved gasses, and the more you do it the more you drive out. I believe the presence of dissolved oxygen is thought to make a difference to the taste of tea, presumably because it reacts with some of the compounds that come out of the tea into the water (it is very reactive after all). Reboiled water may have less dissolved oxygen, and therefore make a different tasting cup of tea. I’ve never noticed the difference myself, but it’s possible it’s only noticeable with very refined tasting tea, and I like a cuppa that strips the fur off one’s teeth.

I have no intention of going down that road - only tears await.

I thought that it was the non-Us who put milk in first, for reasons I've forgotten. I don't drink tea with milk as a rule, or indeed at all if decent coffee is available, so am relatively neutral on the subject.

I am a great believer in an individual's right to do anything they want that does not directly affect anyone else. However, in this sort of case I would be tempted to ask the drinker if they minded doing that in private.

Aldi have Cairanne back in - very nice , but seems a but decadent at nearly £9 so I will alternate it with cheaper stuff ... to be honest I have actually been enjoying their French varietals after they ran of the Fitou.
I'm no connoisseur ...

Not a bad drop. Don't think it's unreasonable for the price?
It's starting to feel a bit wrong drinking wine alone - I'm long overdue dining with company.

I bet it'd be half price in Aldi in France...
I see the Fitou is EU 3.49 over there which is £3.03 - it was about £6 here ...

Probably less. Mate. Wine in France is so good on a budget especially for someone like me who doesn't know much about wine.

It's a bit scary, but our last trip was just Brexit happened. We'd agreed to bring a good few bottles back, but spend close to what we'd spend on the UK to get wine. They were mostly excellent. However I got carried away at a discount supermarket towards the end of the trip and bought loads of really cheap stuff. Like 1.5 to 2 euros a bottle. That was also mostly really good!
