Didn't make pommes 'aqua' boulangere in the end yesterday after all, getting too tempted into making a broad bean, courgette and flower risotto to accompany a load of lamb chops. Very nice it was too

No idea today. The lump of belly pork I thought had a day left on the use by date is actually a couple of days gone. So it's storecupboard and fridge faces for just little old me as the OH is out- one from penne amatriciana, mutter paneer or a quick veggie stir fry using bok choi and fridge ends I reckon

Or, sod it, I may go takeaway. I've not checked out the Roti wagon for a while

Last night: that chicken, chorizo and bean stew again. Put too many toms in and it took aaages to reduce - ended up eating at 9, ffs.

Tonight: assuming they've not gone off, venison steaks. With salad. And maybe wine if I'm feeling reckless.

are you in my house? :hmm:

Venison hadn't defrosted, so had chorizo and bean stew with couscous.

Put the deer to marinade this morning in some oil with juniper berries, garlic, thyme, salt and pepper... no idea if this is a good combo or not :D

I had the same problem last night, so bunged a bit of cornflour in the stew :D

They would have been very tasty though if I had - it's an easy recipe.
:p

Risotto just seemed a better use of ingredients really, more pleasing and healthy looking after work.

Anyway I'm still undecided. I'm off to Whitcross St Market for a Luardo's burrito, some goat curry or other foodie treat that looks good. It's the same place where those boy-knobs from Junior Apprentice tried to sell cheese fwiw

spicy greek meatbols in a tomato sauce baked with eggs on top

(if I can ever be arsed to go to the shop)

I have decided to try out a couple of foods that I ate as a kid but haven't tried for years, first on the list are pig's trotters :)

Found a place that sells them on the open market here, so its on the shopping list for Saturday.

Got a load of interesting sounding recipes, my GF isn't keen at the moment, but she'll get hungry sooner or later :D
Hmmm haven't had kidneys for ages either.

^ did you ever have roasted lamb's hearts? God I used to love them - they were a regular Sunday roast for us during the lean years as a kid

Tonight's tea could be anything out of 3 bean chilli, spicy beanburgers, pesto spaghetti with black olives and parmesan, or pea and parmesan risotto

See what we feel like later

Yes really really good, had them in recent years too, heart is a vastly underrated food, ox heart is pretty good aswell but you're right lambs heart is the winner.

Looking forward to some experimenting with cheap, tasty offal recipes over the next few weeks :)

Ox heart is too big, too strong a flavour, and the meat does actually seem to be tougher than lamb's hearts weirdly

I want roasted lamb's hearts now :D phwoarrrr

tonight I'll be having something crappy from the food cupboards at work as I'm driving straight down to my sisters from work. so, an apple, and 2 ryvita with cheese spread :( or similar

Curried eggs, chana masala and naan bread. The chana masala is already made, the naan's will be shop bought and the curried eggs are easy to make so hopefully a shrt and stress free cooking process

Ox heart has its uses though, its good in stew type dishes.

My craving at the moment is for gooey, yet crunchy roast pigs trotters though :D

We're having one of her colleagues and husband over tonight for dinner. She's doing blinis with smoked salmon & cream cheese, veal in tomato sauce and mozzerella with some manner of taties, and strawberry shortcake for pudding.

Nice.

Tonight we are having three different types of vegan curry bought from the local animal sanctuary open day. The one I tried was delicious so I'm hoping the others are just as nice and that the kids like them!! :D

Lamb Curry, Coconut Dhal, Rice and naan. Better start making it in a bit!!
ooh, have you got a recipe for coconut dhal?

We've got kheema matar tonight, probably with naans, because I doubt I'll have the energy to make chapatis tonight.

Tomorrow with be the same with sag aloo or dahl :D
