Used to when I worked in kitchens. Had no particular problem helping my ex do xmas dinner and such. SHe stopped cooking meat, except for her kids occasionally, pretty much when I was there so never really came up.

Why d'you ask?
Just wondering.

How do you judge the taste of a meaty treat? Like a bolognese or a casserole?

I rarely used to cook stuff like that after I became a veggie. I stopped working in restaurants for a few years after becoming a veggie-not linked but I did lose a job cos of my politics-so it wasn't really an issue.
When I did get a job back in kitchens I managed to get a job running a grill, so steaks, chicken, burgers, salmon steaks, ribs etc was the order of the day. So all I needed to know was how to cook the. I didn't and don't need to taste a steak to know if it's rare medium etc.
If I did cook the stuff you mention I either got my ma, partners, or mates to try it and if they liked it then grand. My ex-flatmate used to prefer my veggie mince, mashed spud and peas to his then gf's meat version.... And when I cook for others it's near always veggie. Occasionally it's roast meat, roast fish etc. Simple clean flavours.

Salmon with olive oil, roasted tomatoes and roasted peppers - already cooked from last night and waiting for me in the fridge. Yum yum. I will soooo enjoy that after the gym tonight.

The boyfriend has requested pizza tonight, so that is what we shall have :)

......its that easy?!?

*sends email requesting bottom sex and peanut butter sandwiches* :)

Some sort of Mexican refried bean wrap with guacamole and salsa ensemble but himself is working late so it'll be a late tea. I'm just glad I've been such a big food shopper all these years. The cupboards are still yielding a great dinner harvest without having to spend too many pennies.

Making dhal and rice and nice steamed veggies from FIL's allotment. And a bit more peanut butter tea bread I made earlier. Am v domestic today!

Pate! Whizz it up in a blender with some parsley and lemon juice and spread it on toast.

This was well yummy by the way.

It did look completely gross though, so I added some tandoori spices to it to give it a bit of kick and it made it a more pleasant colour. Before it kind of looked like minced bile. Bleh!

But it was super nommable, and shall do it again. TA! :D

I had business and shopping in the city today, so treated myself to dimsum for lunch and a Holsteiner schnitzel and homefries for supper.

The lads back at the farm had to contend with minestrone and a frozen tuna casserole dated October, 2007 (and green salad, it goes without mentioning).

But I brought home a roast duck for something Chinese and wonderful tomorrow.

Last night I had a cheese and onion crisp butty when I got home. It was very tasty :D

Tell yer pal to make the thai prawn curry, and then get the salmon, bigger the steak the better, score long shallow cuts in the steak. Get some ginger and garlic puree, mix with s&p, add some turmeric and cumin to the past and let down with a little bit of oil. . Rub into the salmon and leave in the fridge to marinate.
Heat an all metal frying pan to a very high heat, place the salmon, skinside down, in the pan and fry until crispy. Once the skin is crispy turn the salmon over and finish in the oven. Jobs a good'un.

Was considering treating myself to a takeaway tonight but on second thoughts this salmon dish sounds well nice so I might try it instead.

I shall let you know if I'm still hungry later

Cos I'm sure you can't wait to know :p:D

Anyway, I have chicken breasts defrosting, so it'll either be a chicken/chorizo/bean stew, or a passanda - depends how the kids feel - I'll eat owt

i don't know. i feel as if i should cook something and be good wifey for a change. but i've kind of forgotten how to do it! :D
