What's currently good on the BBC iPlayer?

But they will often be set up to start not at the beginning, but at odd places, so unless you check, you can just launch into watching the wrong episode.
That’s where you’re going wrong. I need to check to see how long the series is going to be

Also I watch half on my computer and half on my phone and though going from computer to phone is ok, going from phone to computer - it thinks I'm still at the point where i stopped watching when i shut down on the computer. So infuriating - is a waste of my bloody time!

Well there's a whole problem with that for me, cos of spoilers. I do prefer to see how many episodes there are, so I know that when I hit the last one, I know it's the last one (and that I'm watching the first), but I have to do it through partially-closed eyes, to blur out any text.

I've just watched all of the new Rebus series.

Based on the Ian Rankin books. A smashing together of a few storylines from a few novels along with a few downright changes to some stuff (his relationship with his boss; his brother; Malcolm Fox from different novels being there at what is effectively the start of the Rebus novels timeline; lots of other stuff too)

I liked it. I like the books and I like the Ken Stott series from a few years back. It has been set in 'now' (more or less) rather than 'then' (80's onward) so it appeals to a new audience. I'm undecided on whether Richard Rankin (no relation) is the 'right' Rebus, but he's a good Rebus.

Anyone else seen it yet? Ep1 was on BBC Scotland last night and BBC 1 England tonight. All of it is on iPlayer now for your viewing pleasure.

Watched first 3 episodes. Like yourself, id read all the books & watched the original TV series's but finding myself not sure about this. Cant quite put my finger on it. Hoping the remaining episodes will change my mind.

I find the desire NOT to watch the wrong episode normally puts me into a more present frame of mind, after fucking up due to being stoned countless times!
I never even think about the possibility of watching the wrong episode until its happened but the why the fuck should i have to?

You could always imdb them if you want to avoid the brief episode descriptions (i wouldn’t describe them as spoilers as they’re deliberately vague)

Oh god, you know how bad I am with the merest whisper of a hint of a spoiler. No, the half-closed eye smudgy-view will do fine for now. Thanks though.

This is what i had to do to sort out what the fuck was going on with "Those Who Kill" and i repeat, why the fuck should i have to? Why can't the BBC just get it right?

I find the iPlayer description to be less than useless tbh - so vague i rarely if ever recognise an episode from one, even i I've seen it.

I'm looking at it like this,
Books are canon
Radio is canon -1 as was Brian Cox
Ken Stott was (is?) Rebus for a lot of people
John Hannah was Rebus Lite
Richard Rankin is New 21stC Rebus, for the kidz and uninitiated

Ian Rankin has always said he's never watched the shows as he doesn't want the TV or film versions of his creations to affect how he sees, thinks of or writes Rebus (as happened with Colin Dexter, he changed how he wrote Morse to make him more like John Thaw's interpretation).

As long as people watch it, like it, rewatch it and there are more made - I'm happy. And more books of course - MOAR BEWKS!!

would you complain about being on the wrong bus if you got on it without checking the number on the front?

This isn't the same though, this is more like when the 115 to Aldgate pulled up at the wrong bus stop and people got on thinking it was the 115 going to East Ham because it was in the wrong bay.
There's no good reason for iplayer to dump you into season 3 instead of episode 1 season 1.

Also I think when you're the bus driver, it's probably more concerning for the passengers if you've not checked the number :D

I've been listening to the Uncanny podcast. A guy interviews people who have experienced unexplained apparently paranormal events and experiences. Mostly ghost type stuff. Usually a good yarn emerges and then assorted bods give their take on it. Recommended if you find these things interesting and intriguing.

Oh my god this series is AMAZING! I've been listening too and as a confirmed sceptic, even I'm finding some of the stories difficult to explain away.

We’ve just watched the latest episode of Inside No 9, and after the credits at the end they suggested a couple of other shows, including something called Murder They Hope. Sounds like a humorous whodunnit series starring Johnny Vegas, apparently in its second season already.

Has anyone seen it? Worth it?

Just fuckin did it again. Clicked to start watching something and after 10 minutes realise its series 2 episode 2 - so why would anyone ever want to start watching something from series 2 episode 2? Its fucking shit and they need to fix it.

its more like you got on the right bus but you ended up teleported onto the wrong bus when you sat down and didn't realise for 10 fucking minutes, and then had to walk back to where you got on the bus and start again.

It says underneath the thumbnail which episode it is. Astounded that this is viewed as a problem!

It's dreadful.
So promising but it's terrible.
