Counterpoint: This'll not make much difference to the world, it's a gesture towards what he thinks is his base.

- It'll take a few years to unwind from the Accord, likely beyond Trump's presidency, so it's reversible
- Coal's not coming back anyway, there's no money in it
- The US megacorps are already pivoting to renewables/low carbon. They're not stupid - they know what the score is, and future shareholder value is not going to be in burning long-dead organic matter
- This might actually embolden the other big players to go at climate goals more aggressively

The more damaging things his administration is doing environmentally are hamstringing the EPA (on a local level), and slashing the budgets of the NOAA, NASA and other climate observation programs. This is spectacularly ill-advised - something will inevitably turn up to bite us on our arses - and frankly the US is the only country at the moment with the resources to even attempt to monitor the whole planet and provide advance warning.

That's my half-baked opinions anyway.
