What stupid shit has Trump done today?

Among those waivers, is this one.

The Trump administration has granted top aide Steve Bannon a waiver that will allow him to control the editorial direction of the white supremacist Breitbart site, while still working for the government on the taxpayers' dime.

Its all getting a bit desperate, if the 3 investigations show Trump himself did nothing wrong, he'll get a massive boost

There is a lot of news outlets getting excited over Comey giving evidence next week, but last time he gave evidence under oath he said "no-one had put any pressure on him over the FBI investigation" so can he now claim Trump did and have any credibility?

No, Comey denied that the Attorney General or the DOJ tried to halt the investigation. Which isn't the same thing.

From Read the full testimony of FBI Director James Comey in which he discusses Clinton email investigation

HIRONO: So if the Attorney General or senior officials at the Department of Justice opposes a specific investigation, can they halt that FBI investigation?

COMEY: In theory yes.

HIRONO: Has it happened?

COMEY: Not in my experience. Because it would be a big deal to tell the FBI to stop doing something that

Withdrawing form the Paris accord, the world's first comprehensive climate agreement.

To add a little bit of perspective.... he can't just announce that we're pulling out of the deal and the next day it happens. You have to give a minimum of one year's notice, and then there's a transition period. It's entirely possible that Trump will be out of office by the time that this takes effect. I've heard some estimates for that into 2020, sometime after the next election. Yes, its a disaster, but it may be a reversible disaster, unlike Climate Change.

In addition, US emissions are dropping:

Overall energy use fell 2 percent in the first half of 2016 compared with the same period last year, according to EIA. Coal consumption, in particular, saw steep declines by dropping 18 percent, while natural gas use dipped just 1 percent, versus 2015 rates.

“The decrease was most notable in the residential and electric power sectors,” EIA said. Energy use shrank 9 and 3 percent, respectively, in those portions of the economy.

The EIA said the use of renewables rose 9 percent. Nearly half of that increase was due to wind energy, roughly a third from hydroelectricity and more than 10 percent from solar power.

In a separate report released in September, EIA analysts predicted carbon emissions for 2016 will fall to their lowest level since 1992—three years before the United Nations held the first of its 21 global summits on climate change, called the Conference of the Parties.

Counterpoint: This'll not make much difference to the world, it's a gesture towards what he thinks is his base.

- It'll take a few years to unwind from the Accord, likely beyond Trump's presidency, so it's reversible
- Coal's not coming back anyway, there's no money in it
- The US megacorps are already pivoting to renewables/low carbon. They're not stupid - they know what the score is, and future shareholder value is not going to be in burning long-dead organic matter
- This might actually embolden the other big players to go at climate goals more aggressively

The more damaging things his administration is doing environmentally are hamstringing the EPA (on a local level), and slashing the budgets of the NOAA, NASA and other climate observation programs. This is spectacularly ill-advised - something will inevitably turn up to bite us on our arses - and frankly the US is the only country at the moment with the resources to even attempt to monitor the whole planet and provide advance warning.

That's my half-baked opinions anyway.

I wonder what he thinks of the US' most populous states and cities now vowing to work together outside of his admin's control and, by inference, with China and the EU? (California has already explicitly stated they will and they seem to be in the leadership position in this ad-hoc grouping)...

Well done Donald you massive twat.
