Lawmakers seek probe of ICE force-feeding of immigrants

Nearly 50 Democratic lawmakers called for a watchdog investigation of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Tuesday after the agency confirmed it had been force-feeding immigrant detainees on a hunger strike. Reporting by The Associated Press revealed late last month that nine Indian men who were refusing food at a Texas detention facility were being force-fed through nasal tubes against their will.
The 49 lawmakers are calling for the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General to investigate on-site conditions of ICE facilities and the policies surrounding the involuntary force-feeding of immigrant detainees. Earlier this month, the Geneva-based United National human rights office said that the United States could be violating the U.N. Convention Against Torture.

This seems a tad worrying!

Multiple Whistleblowers Raise Grave Concerns with White House Efforts to Transfer Sensitive U.S. Nuclear Technology to Saudi Arabia

“The whistleblowers who came forward have expressed significant concerns about the potential procedural and legal violations connected with rushing through a plan to transfer nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia. They have warned of conflicts of interest among top White House advisers that could implicate federal criminal statutes. They have also warned about a working environment inside the White House marked by chaos, dysfunction, and backbiting. And they have warned about political appointees ignoring directives from top ethics advisors at the White House who repeatedly and unsuccessfully ordered senior Trump Administration officials to halt their efforts.”
The report highlights concerning events involving Saudi Arabia, including the brutal murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, which was met with equivocation by President Trump and other top Administration officials, and the refusal by the White House to submit a report on Mr. Khashoggi’s killing that was requested on a bipartisan basis by the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

McCabe: 'I think it's possible' Trump is a Russian asset - CNNPolitics

Former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe said Tuesday it is possible President Donald Trump is a Russian asset.

"Do you still believe the President could be a Russian asset?" asked CNN's Anderson Cooper during an interview with McCabe on "Anderson Cooper 360."
"I think it's possible. I think that's why we started our investigation, and I'm really anxious to see where (special counsel Robert) Mueller concludes that," McCabe said.
It's another bombshell comment from McCabe, which comes days after he outlined on Sunday to CBS the reasons top US officials decided to open a counterintelligence probe and obstruction of justice investigation into the President.
McCabe is promoting his new book, "The Threat," which paints a stark portrait of his time at the bureau under Trump, describing in vivid detail his version of interactions with top officials at the White House and Justice Department. The book was released Tuesday and became and instant best-seller.

The new AG will decide if a report into Trump's relationship with Russia is to be released, but it would be a very good time to do so.
Trump, a very likely Russian asset, is due in Vietnam, an ideal place for him to do a skip to Russia and avoid prison time.
He'll ditch his idiot pals but I wonder if his family will be with him.

Somebody on MSNBC flagged this as a possibility last night. He said Mueller understands how easy it is to flatter your way into a job with Donald and may have had Barr promote himself as a friend of Trump with his memo last year in the hopes Barr would be able to protect him and publish his report.

Would be hilarious if true, however I think it's unlikely.

Fuck me, are you genuinely this daft?

Not exactly surprised by this.

Trump Won’t Rule Out Using Stolen Data in 2020 Campaign
Nearly three years after hacked materials upended the 2016 presidential campaign, every Democratic candidate running for the White House has pledged not to knowingly use such material should they end up being published during the current election cycle. Only one 2020 campaign declined to make such a commitment: President Donald Trump’s.
Numerous attempts to obtain comment from the Trump campaign were not returned. But after publication, Kayleigh McEnany, the Trump campaign's national press secretary, sent the following note: “We’re not in the business of taking pledges invented by the liberal online media."
In the spring of 2016, hackers within Russia’s military intelligence directorate, the GRU, looted more than 44,000 emails and 17,000 attachments from the internal network of the Democratic National Committee, and separately stole another 20,000 emails from Clinton campaign chief John Podesta.
Posing as a notional Romanian hacker called “Guccifer 2.0,” the Russians passed the material to WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange, who released them at strategic intervals in the 2016 campaign.

Had anything here yet about CNN's hire to cover the 2020 elections? She has experience working for the Republican National Committee, on the campaign of a previous GOP candidate and a couple years working in the Trump administration. She's also been pretty open in her right wing views on social media. See below.

Oh, and she ha no journalistic experience to note. But CNN seem to think she is perfect for the job.

CNN’s baffling, self-sabotaging hire of Sarah Isgur - The network’s new political editor is a former Trump official who has never worked in journalism

Also - as yet, I don't think Trump has made any statement about this, nor has anyone senior in Homeland Security. You'd think they'd want to make a big deal of having thwarted such a major terrorist attack.
US officer 'made kill list of Democrats'

The self-proclaimed white nationalist had drawn up a list of targets including prominent Democratic politicians, according to prosecutors.

He is said to have drawn inspiration from the Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik.

"The defendant intends to murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country," US District Attorney Robert Hur said in the court documents, requesting that he be held in detention pending trial.

No problem with this as it's American terrorism and only against pinky libs.
It won't draw any attention from the right as home made products don't have tariffs.

Trump frequently says that "his wall" is needed to stop human trafficking, despite there being no real evidence this is happening via the Southern border. He often goes into quite lurid details about what this trafficking involves. For example, this:

Trump again mentioned taped-up women at the border. Experts don’t know what he is talking about.

President Trump on Friday again claimed that human traffickers taped women’s mouths at the border.

“Women are tied up, they’re bound, duct tape put around their faces, around their mouths, in many cases they can’t even breathe,” he said in the Rose Garden while discussing a deal to temporarily end the partial government shutdown. “They’re put in the backs of cars or vans or trucks.”

Experts say Trump’s claims are ‘divorced from reality.’ His comment Friday was at least the second time he has mentioned taped-up women since The Post initially published this story on Jan. 17, bringing the total number of statements on taped-up women to at least 10 times in 22 days.

Well, remember how often he projects - publicly slates activities that he has actually done himself.

And now we have this, involving Trump's good friend . . .

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft charged with soliciting prostitution

Robert Kraft, the billionaire owner of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, has been charged with soliciting prostitution at a spa in Florida, where surveillance video showed him receiving sexual services, police said Friday. The 77-year-old Kraft is among more than two dozen people accused in a police sting as part of a human trafficking probe, according to authorities in Jupiter, Florida.

Kraft must be the 7th or 8th person in Trump's circle accused and/or convicted of sexual assault, including child sexual assault. Sure'y, it's pretty unusual for one man to have so many friends and close associates connected to sexual abuse/child sexual abuse.

Well, makes you think.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders called out for claiming Trump quick to condemn violence against press

"I certainly don't think that the president at any point has done anything but condemn violence against journalists or anyone else," Sanders said when asked about the president's tweets against the media and its potential to incite extremists.

"In fact, every single time something like this happens the president is typically one of the first people to condemn the violence and the media is the first people to blame the president."

How a future Trump Cabinet member gave a serial sex abuser the deal of a lifetime

A decade before #MeToo, a multimillionaire sex offender from Florida got the ultimate break

On a muggy October morning in 2007, Miami’s top federal prosecutor, Alexander Acosta, had a breakfast appointment with a former colleague, Washington, D.C., attorney Jay Lefkowitz.
It was an unusual meeting for the then-38-year-old prosecutor, a rising Republican star who had served in several White House posts before being named U.S. attorney in Miami by President George W. Bush.

Instead of meeting at the prosecutor’s Miami headquarters, the two men — both with professional roots in the prestigious Washington law firm of Kirkland & Ellis — convened at the Marriott in West Palm Beach, about 70 miles away. For Lefkowitz, 44, a U.S. special envoy to North Korea and corporate lawyer, the meeting was critical.

His client, Palm Beach multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein, 54, was accused of assembling a large, cult-like network of underage girls — with the help of young female recruiters — to coerce into having sex acts behind the walls of his opulent waterfront mansion as often as three times a day, the Town of Palm Beach police found.

The eccentric hedge fund manager, whose friends included former President Bill Clinton, Donald Trump and Prince Andrew, was also suspected of trafficking minor girls, often from overseas, for sex parties at his other homes in Manhattan, New Mexico and the Caribbean, FBI and court records show.

Facing a 53-page federal indictment, Epstein could have ended up in federal prison for the rest of his life.

But on the morning of the breakfast meeting, a deal was struck — an extraordinary plea agreement that would conceal the full extent of Epstein’s crimes and the number of people involved.

Not only would Epstein serve just 13 months in the county jail, but the deal — called a non-prosecution agreement — essentially shut down an ongoing FBI probe into whether there were more victims and other powerful people who took part in Epstein’s sex crimes, according to a Miami Herald examination of thousands of emails, court documents and FBI records.

The pact required Epstein to plead guilty to two prostitution charges in state court. Epstein and four of his accomplices named in the agreement received immunity from all federal criminal charges. But even more unusual, the deal included wording that granted immunity to “any potential co-conspirators’’ who were also involved in Epstein’s crimes. These accomplices or participants were not identified in the agreement, leaving it open to interpretation whether it possibly referred to other influential people who were having sex with underage girls at Epstein’s various homes or on his plane.

Trump Employs QAnon Believer as Pastry Chef at Mar-a-Lago

upload_2019-2-23_19-7-14.png

Elizabeth Alfieri, a Florida pastry chef, has posted dozens of times on Instagram using QAnon hashtags and slogans, often using pictures taken at Mar-a-Lago itself.
QAnon centers on thousands of clues posted by an anonymous person called “Q,” who posits a world of Satanic rituals reminiscent of the Pizzagate conspiracy theory. QAnon believers think that Trump is engaged in a shadowy secret war against pedophiles in the Democratic Party and Hollywood.
Alfieri has also made QAnon references on her Twitter account, which has been deleted. She uses QAnon slogans in her Twitter bio. She also interacted on Twitter with “@TheRealRAnon,” a Twitter account that pretends to be John F. Kennedy Jr., who QAnon believers claim is still alive.

Her cakes look really shite as well.
