What new foods have you tried recently?

Not new, so much new as again - since my local Aldi has no cheap Tofu and I have failed in trying to source natto and I'm failing to enjoy sauerkraut ...

I'm having another go at yeast flakes - thanks to seeing far too many vegan cooking things on YT ... and not least because I wanted another source of B12 since I am not good at taking pills...
Somewhat worried it will raise my uric acid which I may be ready to get tested again later in the year ...

Partly because I worry about my iodine being out of balance with my cruciferous veggie intake, I finally got to a Chinese supermarket today so now have a substantial supply of two kinds of seaweed plus bonus Shiitake mushrooms...

And perhaps to ease up on the mango chutney, following a heavy indulgence i pineapple slices, I'm tentatively getting back into the green tomato salad to add acidity to my farty stews ...

EDIT:- oh and I switched from seeded to wholemeal spelt for my flatbread - also labelled "organic" and therefore expensive, but my local supermarkets don't stock generic WM bread flour and I have taken a dislike to Allinson for political reasons ... and it's only 10p per day ...

Just spent some time in lovely Sevilla eating my face off - mostly the old familiar favourites of tapas made out of cheese, ham, spinach & chickpeas, more ham, fried fish, croquetas, fried aubergines, pickled artichokes, anchovies, more ham etc etc.
But these were new to me and about the most delicious thing I have ever tasted - tortillitas de camarones, small mini-pancakes (more like fritters really) made with tiny miniscule prawns in a very very light, crispy batter. No egg involved - it's just mixed wheat & chickpea flour with water and the mini creatures stirred in, then fried (hard and fast) in olive oil. As long as you're not weirded out by the tiny black eyeballs (just think of them as pepper flecks!) these are like prawn crackers, only gourmet and from heaven. Very salty and prawny. Probably will kill you fast. Want to try making them at home but I don't know where you can get teeny tiny baby prawns here (in Spain you can get them at the supermarket)

I'm.unsure what it was tbh, some random box thing bit I got given. Turkish crackers of some kind? Rather dry but tasty regardless but 1 was enough.

Usually when I order dumplings I get ones the same shape as Polish pierogi which is what I think of as dumplings. Today I got dumplings which look like what I think of as dim sum, which I’ve never had. They were nice.

Espresso tonic! 😍🤤

The one I had was made with elderflower tonic, angostura bitters and a slice of orange. I don't want to drink anything else ever again.

Soon, pheasant sausages with cider and apples. Never had pheasant before. Seen a fair few tho.
Still failed to work out what to do with these, wondering about making a puff pastry sausage roll thing with the sausage meat, leeks and apple.

I think apple or other tart fruit will work well with them.
