Things you eat straight out of the jar

That's a silly question
I’d be shocked if you meant the unrefridgerated salted ones that come in oil in tiny jars or tins that are meant for cooking with. They’re delicious but very very salty.
But not if it was those delicious fresh ones that come in tubs from the fridge and are meant for picnics.

Yeh not all jarred anchovies are salty. But I only have one or two salty ones at a time. With strawberry jam after.

I've just finished work and have gone for a pint before last orders. And so it would be prudent to get other people's views.

So far we have.

Crisps
Baked beans
Ravioli
Sweetcorn
Rice Pudding
Tomato soup (Heinz only)
Custard
Tuna
Spaghetti hoops
Sardines
Meatballs

Not sure if crisps ‘count’

Most of the usual things
Pickled walnuts
Chutney
Mustard
That double concentrated tomato puree that comes in a handy tube for squirting straight into your mouth
Vinegar, especially balsamic but others too
Dried mushrooms
Posh salt (smoked / kala namak / etc) and curry pastes in smaller quantities

I sometimes keep the liquid from homemade sauerkraut etc to use as a starter for fermenting fussier veg, but if there's only a small amount I'll just drink it or add it to food.

The posts I’ve shockliked are the ones with very strong tastes - very salty, very rich or very sour would normally scare me off digging in with a big spoon.

Cold beans, pasta and meatballs though - boak! I know they’re probably safe, but I couldn’t eat a tinned meatball without nuking it first. Not that I’d have them in the house in the first place .

Two people have said “flat meats” now, as if it’s a recognised term for prepackaged sliced cooked meat, what people on the wrong side of the Atlantic call “cold cuts”. It isn’t.

That’s possibly just my own personal coinage. Apologies.
