US election 2020 thread

Worth a read this, on the significant increase in recent years of political violence in rich countries and tentative suggestions as to why this might be happening. Also points out that the temptation to see stuff like wednesday as a freak outlier event is based on ideas that don't hold water anymore and should be ditched.
that doesnt match my perception - which may be wrong
this is where theyve got their numbers from
ive looked up global riot counts going back as far as its possible using their data and you get this
Screenshot(4).png

which clearly doesnt match reality
some weird data anomaly going on there IMO

in the UK at least id say political violence is at a historic low
??

ETA: Also the USA IS a poor country in terms of the living conditions of millions of its citizens / more precisely a vastly unequal country

Michael Flynn & Sidney Powell permabanned from tweeter as well. I have mixed feelings about this just on a personal level, watching them spiral further and further out, together, like some mad Qanon waltz was sort of fun.
And loads of others including Ron Watkins in (another) crackdown on Qanon accounts.
Twitter thread of screenshots here. The game of wack-a-mole as some of them try activating their next back up account is of course underway although twitter look as if they're feeling a little more 'empowered' this time round.

However I'm sure they will continue to find ways to provide entertainment. (Alongside being fucking cunts of course).

Seems all Trump has left is he’s gonna head to Florida on 19th in Air Force One, will be the last trip he and his family makes in a plane with that call sign. USAF needs to say the 747’s are in for a service (getting the fake tan out of the soft furnishings) ready for Biden and lay on a Piper Cherokee.
Maybe one of those spare 737 Max planes that have been 'resting'?

Here's a round up of bans, in addition to Trump's ban on twitter, so far.

Earlier on Friday, Twitter permanently banned the account of conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh and two Trump loyalists: former national security adviser Michael Flynn and attorney Sidney Powell.

Later in the day, Google suspended Parler - a self-styled "free speech" rival to Twitter that is increasingly popular with Trump supporters - from its online store.

"We're aware of continued posting in the Parler app that seeks to incite ongoing violence in the US," said Google.

On Thursday, Facebook said it had suspended Mr Trump "indefinitely". The popular gaming platform Twitch also placed an indefinite ban on the outgoing president's channel, which he has used for rally broadcasts. So has Snapchat.

Two online Trump memorabilia stores were closed this week by e-commerce company Shopify. On Friday, Reddit banned its "donaldtrump" forum for the president's supporters.
