US election 2020 thread

GA under 1000 (665). Nearly there.

(albeit there are provisionals and military votes to count, so don’t expect any calls. But a symbolic moment incoming.)

Do we have a winner yet?

Not quite yet, but Trump is doing a brilliant job of showing himself to be a proper loser. Stunning reactions. I expect there's a fair few people that have been close to him slowly edging away now which I expect will fuel his narcissistic rage and paranoia.

The coverage of him is pretty stunning. A news channel cut broadcasting his speech last night and said they won't broadcast it as what he's saying is untrue.

I think he's pretty much gone now though, he just doesn't realize it yet. How it got this close needs to be a serious discussion for the strategy and politics of the left though.

Once it's called for Biden (assuming it will be now) that'll be the crunch time. The legal stuff will come to nothing. But in the heat of the immediate call of Biden winning I wonder if Trump will make a speech and go balls out saying, "It's been stolen from us, into the streets to defend America" to his supporters.

Let’s hope so.

On that, I think the overseas ballots have to arrive by today and there were 9,000 not received yet - so it depends how many make it back. Provisionals are c3000 and usually skew Dem but as election day voting was so heavily R, that may not hold.

Democrats are trying to get people whose ballots were rejected on the grounds of signature or whatever to 'cure' their votes. That also has to happen today

It got this close because covid. Without that, Trump would have run away with it. That Fucking Country is fucked.

No. But we have several hundred million losers.

There'll be no civil war kicking off the moment it's called but would expect sporadic outbreaks of violence possibly snowballing in the new year. If he's going to continue alleging fraud I can't see him leaving quietly in January.

And those of you who think the Mitt Romneys and Jeb Bushes are going to save the US from this are laughably wrong.

I wouldn't fall off my chair if he legs it to some shithole that doesn't have an extradition treaty and sets himself up as president-in-exile. Proper old pretender stuff, with medals, ministers-in-exile and rabid tweeting.

Genuinely.
i can picture that easily, he'd have a special uniform designed for himself, with lots of brocade and made-up medals that say winner on them.

Not long up. what have I missed?

Remember how before you went to bed Georgia and Pennsylvania were crawling towards a Biden majority at a glacial pace? They’ve not got tired of it yet.

Also there was a stupendous speech from Ramblin’ Don Trump at the White House that was jaw-dropping.

But mostly you’ve missed the vote talliers trolling the world by releasing results in batches of about 12 at a time.

On that, there should be enough in the mail vote to get Biden a few thousand ahead. Then these additional votes and recount

Lincoln project lol. I heard one of them interviewed on a podcast a few weeks ago. He spent half the interview going on about social justice warriors and stuff, and didn't seem to realise the irony of his alleged hatred for trump.

In terms of reaction, you know how loads of you lot kept saying all looked lost in the rustbelt states and even when some of us were saying there's loads of space in the mail ballots to close the gaps you were still sceptical?

Imagine that only you're a Trumpette, so are all your friends, your facebook feed is saturated with bollocks and you definitely saw the President miles ahead on election night.
You're gonna have a really hard time believing it aren't you?

Not having a go at anyone with that btw, just saying that unless you're knee deep in the maths and procedure of it all, it looks fucking fishy

I bet the leaders of China, Iran, etc. are just uncontrollably pissing themselves laughing atm.
Well this is why the international situation has been relatively stable during Trump's reign. He may still be bombing the shit out of the middle East but the Chinese and Russians are content to stand by and watch the US eat itself. And I don't think that's going to change much for a few years whatever the result.
