you drop to the 18 yard line for all the goal kicks you just invite them to have the ball deep in your half. I just don't think you can reasonable mark someone who suddenly runs 5 yards offside on the off chance that your own player gives him a perfect through ball

It's a difficult one because Baines has been awesome in domestic football and arguably better that Cash. Cash wouldn't play unless he was first choice, so Hodgson made the right choice based on current form. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
