I don't hate Wales because of ddraig I want them to do well despite of him....Most Welsh people I've met are ok but like with every nationality you get a certain amount of fucking idiots*.


*I probably count as one.

Me too, I'd like to see Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Norn qualify - and I'm not that fussed that many of their fans don't want England to.

Sadly predictable thread really. Bashing English fans when nothing negative has been in the news about them for over a decade is a bit sad really eh. Let's have a go at the Germans for killing that French copper in 1998 then. Or the Welsh fans I overheard being pointlessly xenophobic towards an Englishman at a Wales game (newsflash: loads of English people come to internationals in Cardiff because it's cheap and you can always get tickets. We're supporting your game when you won't). Or the Australians who gave me dog's abuse on the night England won the 2003 rugby world cup. Or the Italians who were really unpleasant towards us in Italy during the 1994 World Cup when we weren't even there. Or whatever.

Or speak to the English fans I know who went in numbers to Marseilles in 1998, had a really good time and didn't see any of the trouble there until they saw it on the news. When they watched Morrocco v Scotland in the same tournament they saw much drunken fuckwittery from the Tartan Army including exposing themselves in public and being a general nuisance to the French public.

How many English went to Germany in 2006? Estimated quarter of a million? Invited in, even without tickets and generally reckoned to have made the tournament what it was by having a great time.

There are many types of English people and English fans. We can't be painted in stupid brush strokes like this. Similarly I've met plenty of Welsh people who aren't all desperately hanging on for the result of the big England game every couple of years.
