On the back of this thread I just went to check Swans out.

Quite possibly the worst thing I've EVER heard in my life, just awful.

Is the suggestion of them for album of the year some sort of sick practical joke ?

Im totally with you on the swans

I've now heard 2 new wicked albums since entering my list..... gah!

Try the Sleigh Bells from 2010 if you want to her someone that really was (it must have been!) a sick joke

I actually really liked that sleigh bells album - thats what you're taling about isnt it? :hmm:
It is. And it might well be the worst excuse for music I've ever heard. Three times I listened to it going 'people whose taste I respect have voted for this, I must be missing something.'. But I wasn't.

Sounds like me and the swans album then.

I'd never heard of sleigh bells before, liked that slightly industrial sound with female vocals though...... No where near as good as the snake river conspriacy album which is yonkers old for that industrial girly sound though.

The Swans album is just prog dressed up as gothic americana. It's not awful but it's not that good either.

I liked the first Sleigh Bells album, but the follow up was dreadful.

Angel Olsen - Half Way Home; very good but probably just missing out of my top 20.

And I'm just about to start the new Woven Hand - The Laughing Stalk

It sounds just like a bunch of ketamised indie kids have stumbled into some un-tuned guitars and and a set of bagpipes, and have decided to chant the same word over and over again until someone rescues them from their k-hole.

It's fucking awful, even by your standards.
i recommend you try the new scott walker album. ;)

it takes commitment from the listener ;)
