I've had cases of norovirus that brought me more joy than the 28 seconds of 'Wild God' I could physically endure.

Cave sings like Eddie Vedder with his foot caught in a bear trap. His music sounds like a discarded mattress looks when its been out in the rain for three weeks. His lyrics are like reading the side effects warning on a bottle of cyanide.

1 The Cure - Songs of a Lost World

Well, who'd have thunk it? Besides everyone? It's The Cure doing what they do best, being magnificently, whirly swirly, deep dense gothic loops and intense, pounding, drums. Isolation, loss, our, oh so fragile, mortality. It's almost the epitome of a Cure album and a more than worthy Number 1.

The Nala Sinephro really surprised me, I hadn't notice it crop up in other lists, nor had I seem many people ever mention it. It really is pretty good and may well be my brothers Christmas present now!
