..and yes having an obscure bootleg of a 50 year old radio show at no. 1 didn't quite feel in the spirit of the thread but fuck it, it's the only chance i'll get to vote for one of my favourite bits of music [and I now do own a copy].

Whenever it finally drops is the year to vote for it. I actually listening to The Dreams a lot during the late 2010's. I think it's still relevant - electronic drone music is still very much a thing.

Good stuff and delightfully surprising.

My top 20 (having completely forgotten about the excellent Lynched album)

Delines - Colfax
Shellac - Dude Incredible
St Vincent - St Vincent
King Champion Sounds - Songs From The Golden Hour
Goat - Commune
Sharon Van Etten - Are We There?
Sleaford Mods - Divide and Exit
Royal Blood - Royal Blood
Gruff Rhys - American Interior
Hookworms - The Hum
Mogwai - Rave Tapes
Steven James Adams - House Music
Parquet Courts - Sunbathing Animal
Honeyblood - Honeyblood
Jack White - Lazaretto
Swans - To Be Kind
Beck - Morning Phase
Angel Olson - Burn Your Fire For No Witness
Warpaint - Warpaint
Drive-By Truckers - English Oceans

There was a lot of excitement on here about their previous album The Seer, but not so much this one. But this is much more consistent. Listen to the whole thing and it pummels you into a different universe.

Oh, thanks for the warning. I’ll stop at Nathalie Neal then.

I'll put the lower than expected performance of my list down to a low turnout

I feel like some gerrymandering must've happened here to keep Parquet Courts out if they're one of the only bands to get three votes.

My list was:

Azealia Banks - Broke With Expensive Taste
Protomartyr - Under Cover of Official Right
September Girls - Cursing the Sea
Alvvays - Alvvays
Total Control - Typical System
Run the Jewels - RTJ2
Iceage - Plowing Into the Field of Love
Xiu Xiu - Angel Guts: Red Classroom
Parquet Courts - Sunbathing Animal
Allo Darlin’ - We Come From the Same Place
Mitski - Bury Me at Makeout Creek
New Pornographers - Brill Bruisers
Cloud Nothings - Here and Nowhere Else
Sleaford Mods - Divide & Exit
Kurraka - Kurraka
Moscow Death Brigade - Hoods Up
Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence
Dum Dum Girls - Too True
Shellac - Dude Incredible
Big Ups - Eighteen Hours of Static
Death Grips - niggas on the moon
Taylor Swift - 1989
Junglepussy - Satisfaction Guaranteed
OFF! - Wasted Years
Fucked Up - Glass Boys
Black Lips - Underneath the Rainbow

I vaguely intended to get around to listening to the Bug, St Vincent, La Roux and Lynched/Lankum albums enough to get around to forming an opinion on them, but didn't get around to it. And Eagulls of course but I think Eagulls would've struggled to make the top 10 either way. Really strong year though, although maybe every year is actually a really good year for music if you've heard enough of it.

I voted for...

Boris Blank – Electrified
Gwenno - Y Dydd Olaf
Dum Dum Girls – Too True
Tying Tiffany - Drop
Void Vision - Sub Rosa
Orlando Julius & the Heliocentrics - Jaiyede Afro

Sumerian Fleet – Just Pressure
Yagya - Sleepygirls
Mind Fair - Mind Fair
Xeno & Oaklander – Par Avion
Keluar - Keluar
Subotika – Panonija
Legowelt - Crystal Cult 2080
Warpaint – Warpaint
Hante - Her Fall And Rise

I feel like some gerrymandering must've happened here to keep Parquet Courts out if they're one of the only bands to get three votes.
9th, 13th and 20th, naah, no surprise. Same score as Shellac would have got if Knotted hadn't stuck them in at 12.

Ibibio Sound Machine must have had similar, lowly placed, votes.
