Urban75 Album of the Year - 2024

Currently got Moscow Death Brigade, Crack Cloud, Quivers, Uniform, Chubby & the Gang, Jade Hairpins, Vincent van Sloth and Kendrick Lamar on my list of albums I should really listen to a fair bit more between now and the 15th. Anyone got any recommendations for what else I need to be listening to more of? Should probably give that Cindy Lee more of a go.
I didn't know Jade Hairpins had a new one. I wasn't massively impressed with the first one though.

Quietus have posted their top 100 today...

Ex-Easter Island Head at no. 1 - an absolutely superb album that will definitely feature highly on my list too - so good to know that the Quietus and I think alike :D.

I know around 15 of the 100 - so over the coming weeks I'll check out the other 85. Always some gems to discover - though, at the cost of subjecting one's ears to quite a bit of 'what the fuck is this and why would anyone ever want to listen to it?'....

Never heard of them before, but very much enjoying Norther.

I've still never actually listened to Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me all the way through, is it good? It probably won't make it onto my best of 2024 list though.

Don't know how i missed Tierra Whack's "world wide whack", she is an amazing rnb/rap/pop etc etc auteur from Philly, all styles done uniquely, personally and amazingly, plus she produces everything inc thr videos which are art-drag masterpieces... check out even you haven't already, you will know pretty rapidly if you love it or not it is very accessible.... maybe start with her debut WHACK WORLD tho, it is 15 x 1 minute songs/videos and totally stunned me on first experience.

Lordy. My copy of the 'special' version of the Kim Gordon album has finally arrived. It includes a 7" that I have played once and will almost definitely never play again. And a CD of their tracks of the year. I know 7 of the albums, and one hasn't actually been released yet, so thats only another 34 albums to check out by Sunday. Piece of piss.

Getting on to do my list now - have been considering it over the last week or so.

Having now submitted a Kendrick-less list, I have now got around to listening to GNX again, it really is a strong album. Although really it should be Euphoria/6:16 In LA/Meet The Grahams/Not Like Us that gets aoty.

First and second choice were easy, the rest could have been in any order really.

As usual I'm sure the results will lead me to a bunch of great stuff I missed this year.

Oof - I hope I wasn't one of the offenders... I think it was last year you pulled me up on using a mixed approach... even more annoying!

Compilation has begun. Thank you to everyone who voted appropriately.

And fuck you to the 10% of you who can't work out Artist - Album, not Album - Artist.

I will accept late votes up until I post The List, which I expect to be tomorrow evening.
I would like to send a list, but I may not be well enough to compile one. We’ll see.
