Urban75 Album of the Year 2002

That name must've got a lot harder to search for online since 2002, although I suppose you can't really blame Tweet for not planning ahead on that point.
Just think of how hard it must be to google for .co.uk and A! was probably a piece of piss to find them in HMV though

Has anyone said 2 Many DJ's yet? OK it's a mix album, but I'm sure I've voted for mixes in previous years.

I love that mix.

There's a thing here where they talk about the tracks used and the problems they had licensing them to give it an official release. Record companies asked them to use I Want to be Your Dog instead of No Fun and Blue Monday instead to The Beach. They originally asked for the Carl Craig mix of Hand to Phone but Carl Craig didn’t want anything to do with DJ compilation that also included Dolly Parton. They struggled to work out which exact version of Joe le Taxi they'd used as different people owned the rights to each. A couple of tracks only got licenced because they knew people who let them use them as a favour.

I've also got pt 1

Which is good, but doesn't all come together so perfectly as pt.2.

Nightmares on Wax - Mind Elevation . Got a little soft spot for some of their stuff however despite some highlights this to me falls down between trying to do too much and pretty much safe downtempo and funk-R&B beats. However it's a pleasant listen.

More great pop/r&b here. I thought Tweet was going to be a superstar after that Missy Elliot collab, but I've not heard of her since. Apparently she's still releasing music.

The album goes for serious money these days. Pretty good album, but that single is still the stand out.

When Timbaland beats were king

I can never remember what this album's called and describe it as the Guttermouth album that doesn't sound like Guttermouth every few years to the same mate I rarely see.

Jóhann Jóhannsson - Englabörn 16 short pieces originally written for a play first launched Johannson into musical sight.' Repetitive, minimal, and emotionally charged' its beautiful, if at times melancholic, and haunting. 16 years later he died of an overdose.

Aim -Hinterland

The sun is out here and this is splendid Sunday morning laidback jazzy/hip hop/funky/ music from Barrow in Furness

Stoke a lo-fi turntabalist noise album from Philip Jeck has it's moments I think. Interesting review here:

АукцЫон [Auktyon] are a folk/jazz/rock group from St Petersberg the 2002 album Это мама [This is mama] is rip roaring brass rock with a very Russian flavour. Give it a go, I think you might love it.

Ooh. When's the closing date? I need to donate my other kidney by claiming that Sea Change by Beck will be Number One.

(it won't)

Also this. These guys were Australian teenagers and this album was their equivalent of Tears For Fears' "Sowing the Seeds of Love".

Wow. This is going to be a tough year.

Havent even covered Queens of the Stone Ages, The Streets, The Vines, Interpol, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Doves, Missy Elliot, The Libertines, The Pokyohonc Spree, Johhny Cash, Death In Vegas, Electric Soft Parade, Boards Of Canada, Wilco,...Trail Of Dead, Jurassic 5, Nada Surf, Nas, Lo Fidelity Allstars.

And Norah Jones
