Two arrested for murder after hunt supporter's death

I quite agree, if people are willing to be pureed for their beliefs, let them.

Having had the misfortune to be driving from Havant to Scotland every Friday for six weeks, via Newbury, gave me a strong desire to suspend the bypass protesters from the nearest tree.

( The Tienanmen Square incident is somewhat different from some unwashed Luddite standing in front of a bulldozer in a vain attempt to stop the construction of a much needed bypass. )

That is the complete opposite of my post. The Tianaman Square incident is no different. Should the tank run him over, it is criminal. Should the bulldozer run over the luddite, it is criminal. Should the girl that goes to Mike Tyson's bedroom be raped, it is criminal (idiotically, his lawyers made the defence of 'what did she expect?' instead of consent/entrapment). And if the man charges his gyrocopter at the guy and takes him out then it's manslaughter (I am assuming the intention was not to kill).

The 'justness' of the cause, or the intelligence of the victim does not come into it.

My dog with noise phobia that lives in abject fear all winter because of the shooting season, to the extent that he may refuse to leave the house for days at a time, thanks you for your dedication to such an antisocial sport.

shooting is hardly an anti social sport unless you live right next to a range/shoot.
even the army does'nt shoot 24 hours a day.

If you are five miles away from a shoot, you still can distinctly hear the shots. It's not really loud or anything, but to a dog it sounds like fireworks. They don't know where it is coming from and, if sensitive to that kind of noise, they find it terrifying.

In all seriousness Id take it round a shoot, if you can - there will be other dogs there loving it, it might well help him out.

If your dog was scared of traffic noise, would you expect people to stop driving places?

Wow -- amongst the numerous specialists and animal behaviourists that we have consulted on the matter, plus the books we've read about canine psychology and behaviour, you'd have thought that SOMEONE would have come up with this simple answer to all our problems!

You reckon shooting is anti-social. on the grounds that your dog has a noise phobia and it scares them?

Apologies for any offence, but that's a pretty self-centred contention. My daughter's terrified of dogs, but I don't expect people to give up either owning them or taking them out of public for fear of upsetting her.

You should've asked me.

I knew it, from the prosecutions first witiness (i think it was) - the hunt leader, or whatever they call the boss - he fucked the case judging from the reports i read and heard.

Quite surprised by this.

The Guardian article on the judgement suggest that the victim was stationary and the aircraft moving. Did the pilot attempt to stop? Was there enough time to stop? Anyone have any links for more detail about that?

Anyone know if the John Curtin who was also in the gyrocopter is the same JC who went to jail for digging up the body of the ex-Duke of Beaufort's grave? (And apparently has been involved in other grave related stuff)

I used to know John, there's only one John Curtin in the AR movement afaik!

The Countryside Alliance seem clear that its the same person:

Countryside Alliance spokesman Chloe Finch said witnesses for the prosecution will include Warwickshire master Antony Spencer and the female hunt supporter who was with Trevor when he was killed.

"We also expect both Peter Bunce of the POWA [Protect Our Wild Animals campaign] who filmed the whole incident and convicted animal rights extremist John Curtin, who was Griffiths' co-pilot, to appear as witnesses," she said.

Now that the case is over the Countryside Alliance seem to be clearly suggesting that a lesson from this case is not to go after anti-hunt people in this way again:

Countryside Alliance chief executive Simon Hart commented: "This is a difficult time for Trevor Morse's family, partner and friends. As a result of animal rights activists one man is dead and another has faced very serious criminal charges.

"If there is one outcome from the horrific events of this case it must be that the activity which led to Trevor Morse's death is not repeated

"It is for police forces to enforce the Hunting Act and the laws of the land."

I found these quotes in articles on 'horseandhound.co.uk'.
