Thread to note supply shortages in the shops

With tomatoes at a £ a pop, if you can find them, and a kettle costing a tidy sum per boil, that nostalgia for a better age that partly drove the brexit vote might just come back to bite those responsible.

I dunno but it means the price of tomatoes at wholesale market has more than tripled ?
Yeah you dunno. Have a look at what you posted. £2 for a lettuce and two quid for a single bell pepper. Not even fortnums charge those prices.

Remember proper bulbs! What were they all about!

The new Aldi in Ferreiras is full of tomatoes . Oval cherry tomatoes from Portugal, the large pink ribbed ones from Portugal, other cherry ones from Morrocco and some insipid not ripe ones from Morrocco. Didnt buy any out of solidarity to UK urbanites.

Tell me about the pink ribbed ones matron.

Wife came back from Tesco with two 6 packs of salad toms and I'd rather she hadn't tbh because they are shit.

Nostalgia for tomatoes from the Canary Islands in the winter/spring or nostalgia for those hard green tasteless things from Holland?

Lying about the weather and all that?
Not exactly. The big four chose to impost tomatoes from countries that have had shit weather. There is shit weather in Turkey, Spain, morocco, so yes this is true. It's not the whole truth though and certainly is not nothing but the truth. It's easier for the big four to blame the govt, Brexit, the weather rather than their business practices.

Not really, just a nostalgia for times when recurrent food/product shortages just didn't really happen...not that long ago, tbh

I think the Daily Mail is exaggerating. Tell you what, I will go shopping in Brixton market on Monday and if I can get all the quoted veg and salad for half the quoted price you pay for it?
go and speak to the people in the article, i think tracey's is the one on the end of electric avenue near iceland. Ask her whether she was misquoted or lying.
