With tomatoes at a £ a pop, if you can find them, and a kettle costing a tidy sum per boil, that nostalgia for a better age that partly drove the brexit vote might just come back to bite those responsible.
Does it sound realistic to you?ok. The article is full of lying fruit & veg sellers
It sounds unprecedentedly bad. What do you think caused them to make up such a crazy lie ?Does it sound realistic to you?

The new Aldi in Ferreiras is full of tomatoes . Oval cherry tomatoes from Portugal, the large pink ribbed ones from Portugal, other cherry ones from Morrocco and some insipid not ripe ones from Morrocco. Didnt buy any out of solidarity to UK urbanites.

Lying about the weather and all that?No I don't think it's made up by the media. There is a lot of lying going on though. Mainly by the big four supermarkets as to why they are short of tomatoes.

Nostalgia for tomatoes from the Canary Islands in the winter/spring or nostalgia for those hard green tasteless things from Holland? With tomatoes at a £ a pop, if you can find them, and a kettle costing a tidy sum per boil, that nostalgia for a better age that partly drove the brexit vote might just come back to bite those responsible.
Not exactly. The big four chose to impost tomatoes from countries that have had shit weather. There is shit weather in Turkey, Spain, morocco, so yes this is true. It's not the whole truth though and certainly is not nothing but the truth. It's easier for the big four to blame the govt, Brexit, the weather rather than their business practices.Lying about the weather and all that?

Not really, just a nostalgia for times when recurrent food/product shortages just didn't really happen...not that long ago, tbhNostalgia for tomatoes from the Canary Islands in the winter/spring or nostalgia for those hard green tasteless things from Holland?
I think the Daily Mail is exaggerating. Tell you what, I will go shopping in Brixton market on Monday and if I can get all the quoted veg and salad for half the quoted price you pay for it?

They are grown under glass/plastic for the winter market here. They are ok but the spring and summer ones are a different kettle of fish as you can imagine especially from the markets.God those look good.
