The Tour Of France 2021

Interestingly nothing on twitter all week from Sam Bennett from what I can see!

Brit team is the Yates twins, Tao and Thomas with the last two also doing the ITT. Pidcock is doing XCO.
Remco is also doing ITT and road for Belgium with WVA. I think GVA might get to wear the golden helmet one last time.
Ala not going for France as he wants to spend time with his kid and concentrate on the Worlds.
Morkov is doing the Madison for Denmark. Asgreen will be part of a strong road team and do the ITT.
Not sure what Slovenia is doing.

How about Slovakia?

I tried keeping away from all media today to watch the highlights, then R4 news go and give the result:facepalm:
Fantastic result for Cab, whose confidence must be sky high. Green Jersey, record numbers of wins, win in Paris....it's all there but just a few hills on the way. If he is to get the record wins, is it now becoming more likely next year if it doesn't happen this?

That’s a big call to think he’ll be there next year. But DQS don’t have any options right now in terms of a sprinter for next year. I guess Cav might have already have got a deal as part of the agreement to ride Le tour this year!

I don't know about a deal to ride next year but he will be hard to ignore. I think 34 or 35 wins this year is a bit to far. He's clearly back. A big push or two next year.....

Can we just be clear about one thing... Cav:

He's so fast I can't see him not winning another two this year. He's 36 and if his health problems stay in the past he could be just as quick next year. He just needs to feel valued by his team and to have a couple of lead out men.

Word is they are signing Tim Merlier as he is out of contract at Alpecin. It'll be important to them to have a Belgian sprint leader on the team.
Also I really, really, REALLY hope that Fabio Jacobsen can get his form and confidence back after that horrific crash last year. Before that crash he was as good as anyone.

I mean I think it's pretty clear he was struggling. But also no idea what their actual game plan is... And no real indications, not from tactics or from Van Aert at interview (said he didn't know what was going on back down the road). Van Aert is 78kg, so er... probably going to drop off the radar pretty soon. Vingegaard +5'18", Kruijswijk +8'14", Roglic +9'11".

Bennett, Groenewegen and Ewan not being there probably helps too, although you can only beat who you're up against.

Roglic clearly hurting today. Pog still favourite but UAE today looked weak, not being able to chase down that initial large break.

There's going to be a lot of tired legs after yesterday, the fight for the break in this is going to be tough, considering the stage starts with over 6km of 7% gradient. The end is fairly brutal too, 3 back to back 1st cat climbs.
