It’s going to be such an anticlimax if Cav doesn’t make it 33 today. We’ve already got used to Cav being Cav and taking stage wins for granted.
The shifts that Alaphillipe and Asgreen put in from long distance were incredible. Cav mentioned how incredible it was to have the world champ and the winner of the Ronde in his leadout.
Tomorrow it'll be a TTT up Ventoux to keep the dream alive.
Tomorrow is now so nerve wracking. Will he finish tomorrow and in time?
At which point he'll presumably have the entire wolfpack towing him up there...There is a good chance that Bike Exchange and Bahrain could try and set a high pace to try and put him OTL so Matthews or Colbrelli can win green.

It's the front of the race being quick that matters. Stick enough people on the front to drive the pace over the climbs and the bigger guys/sprinters will fall off the back pretty quick. It's going to be a hard day for him tomorrow. In his favour is the first 70km or so being (relatively) flat with just a couple of little cat 4's. The Andorra stage is going to be the other big test for Cav as that goes uphill from the start, expect Bahrain and Bike Exchange to drive as hard as they can from the gun there. Is that really possible in the grupetto?

If it's dry tomorrow they'll be fine - the descents is where the grupetto usually claw valuable minutes back, apparently their descending is rather insane at timesYes, but this will be a hard stage with a fairly generous cut-off time. I believe there's lenience allowed even beyond that if the grupetto is more than something like 20% of riders (which, if Cav stays on form, it will be). Fast, dangerous descending to be expected I guess.

Quickstep are taking this seriously as on Sunday they also put Dries Devenyns back with Cav whereas he's usually Ala's lieutenant. Also DQT have Tim Declercq, who could probably drag us over the line.
Maybe he wasn't injured at all, and DQT just preferred Cae, but I cant see that being likely, they couldn't have known that he was gonna beast everyone like he has done, or could they? ive had someone on my facebook today reckon that it's all too good to be true and the whole thing has been fixed. cant see exactly who that benefits tho!Sour grapes at not getting the ride?
