Sausage and apple casserole

That waitrose recipe looks nice, but I can't figure out why they suggest serving with broccoli, of all vegetables. I can't think of flavours that go worse together than apple and broccoli. puke.

Really don't understand what some weirdos have against mixing fruit and meat. Meat can have a bit of a dull flavour on its own. I wouldn't even dream of having roast turkey or chicken without cranberry sauce. Even better is when some sort of fruit and nut stuffing is served up beside it.

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS

I mean not sure how well you get on with your friend, and i'm sure he/she is very nice, but colour alone just put me off, once i got my head round it - it was okay, no offence to you winterinmoscow, at all, but it wasn't my cup of tea.
Always good to try something different though. :)

Meat cooked decently will not have a dull flavour.

Well, you usually need to cook meat with something, whether it be fruit, herbs or spices, the only exception really being a steak.

1st thing I ever cooked for Treebeak:

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 x 400g pack sausages
1 Braeburn apple
40g butter
2 leeks, trimmed and cut into chunks
1 large onion, peeled and sliced
1 heaped teaspoon plain flour
1 heaped teaspoon Dijon mustard
340ml dry cider
salt and freshly ground black pepper

1. Heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil in a frying pan and brown the sausages all over - this will take about 15 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, peel, core and cut the apple into 8 wedges.
3. Melt 25g of the butter with the remaining olive oil in another frying pan, and cook the apple wedges and leeks until tender and golden, then remove from the pan and set aside.
4. Add the sliced onion to the pan with the remaining butter, and cook until golden.
5. Add the flour to the onions and cook for 30 seconds before adding the mustard and cider.
6. Stirring constantly, bring the mixture to the boil and reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.
7. Add the browned sausages, apples and leeks to the pan, and continue to cook them all for a further 10 minutes. Serve straightaway with mashed or baked potatoes.

I fucked upthe teaspoon of flour and put a tablespoon in though!!!

Still ate it.

I made this last night after spotting it yesterday and it was fucking delicious (and dead easy to make) :)
