I've never understood how this makes everything alright.
The premise is that the Muslim accepts Sharia, although the fact that not all states that are majority Muslim allow Sharia speaks for itself.

I wonder how many of the above posters have actually managed to stay on topic rather than engage in puerile name-calling and cheap point-scoring? :D

Rosie is bitter, and it's all the fault of West Ham United Football Club. :)

So you can choose not to accept it?? Ie choose not to be stoned to death for adultery (in theory)

mmm... No. The condition is that following the stipulations of a country's constitution, as-shari'a is part of or ruling the country's jurisdiction.

salaam.

Nonsense. Honor killings are more often than not premeditated crimes carried out by more than one individual and generally with the knowledge of more than one family member/friend. To compare it against acts of domestic violence is specious to say the least.

Honour killings happen in societies all over the world. It isn't always the women who are victims. (hint1: Maffia. Hint2: blood- & other feuds)

It is however a fact that in Islam just like it is the case in any other religion ancient ideas and traditions can get that much intertwined with religious thinking and -practice that some people even believe this type of vengeance has a religious foundation. (Needless to say they wouldn't know how to defend that but that doesn't make it a lesser problem.)

salaam.

but isn't it often the case that converts are the most radical? Almost as if they're making up for lost time :)

I don't think the word "often" would be correct, but yes, it is sometimes a risk especially with people coming from a period of instability and disorder and get caught by a Radical group or movement.

salaam.

Totally agree with this post. Ive never been one to equate islam with honor killings.

Where does it say in Al Qu'ran that adulterers should be stoned to death, _angel_?

Have no adulterers/resses ever been stoned to death tho?

Do you agree with this?

I am not talking about anything that is stated in the qu'ran, just what it is actually happening.

I am merely objecting to some of the laws not getting into a nit picking exercise in semantics of what it says in the Qu'ran.
