Saudi gang rape victim sentenced to lashes and prison

I'm waiting for the usual "lets forget about that point and talk about everything else I said which is obviously 100% right/moral etc etc" post, which usually comes when he gets picked up on something.

Ah, you're back after your comprehensive pwning and unintentionally hilarious cabaret performance of 'breaking science' faildom. Can you explain, as you have been repeatedly asked to by Garfield Le Chat, what you mean by being 'a bit of an idiot' in relation to being gang-raped?

You are really a very nasty, self-absorbed person, aren't you.

I am close to the point to go with the theory that you are only here to villify Islam in the clumsy way of people like you, quoting some nastyness from some Radical websites and adding a few self-invented poison to make it sound more "real".

Any true Muslim would have come to his senses by now.

salaam.

He's an ignoramus who does no research as his ludicrous pronouncements about breaking science testify - and the fact that he didn't bother to check that the men in this case were convicted of rape.

Interestingly, I did a bit of googling and found these rules about whipping offenders

Corporal Punishment

Lashing, according to Sharia, falls under a certain set of guidelines.

* The lasher’s arm should not be raised; a copy of the Quran is held under his arm and should not be dropped while lashing is being executed.
* The lasher, according to Sharia, should be the judge or ruler, but UAE courts have specialised personnel.
* The lasher should perform ablution, say dua’a (prayer) and perform takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar, God is Great) before lashing.
* Lashing is with a leather whip, any other tool is inappropriate.
* The whip has to be free of any metal or splinters.
* Lashing should not cause excessive pain, but the person lashed is not permitted to wear protective clothing.
* Lashing has to be done on different parts of the body, so as not to damage the body and avoid leaving whip marks.
* Women are to be lashed seated and fully dressed.
* Pregnant women are not to be lashed. Lashing is postponed until two months after the delivery of the child.
* If the person who is to be lashed is ill, he or she is to be imprisoned until fully recovered for lashing

Aldebaran, or someone else who knows what they are talking about, can you confirm?

Thanks

eta: thanks to the poster who sent the PM, changed to ''rules'' as these guidelines not in Qu'ran

i said ' a bit of an idiot' to be caught committing adultery, i didnt say anything about getting gang raped.

You quite blatantly failed to check the facts, which was that she was gang raped and the men were found guilty of gang rape, then called her a ''nice girl eh?'' ( sneeringly) and said she was ''a bit of an idiot''.

If you had bothered to check the facts at all you would see the story was quite different.

You also said

Women who spend time with men they aren't related to or married to deserve 90 lashes ,upped to 200 if they protest and their story is picked up the media causing an international outcry, spun as ''undermining the courts decision''
( see this post).

Women's word that they have been raped ''hardly counts as proof'' ( see this post)

''Sharia punishments are hard, but so is coming home 2 find ur wife with another man'' ( see this post)

''adultery causes so much problems and corruption in society, it needs a strong deterrent'' ( presumably, like lashing or stoning), see this post and this post

as well as a lot of completely wrong stuff about the atmosphere, tectonic plates, negative energy being released through the head, a lower incidence of brain tumours amongst Muslims.

You are made of fail and lose.

"I [was] 19 years old. I had a relationship with someone on the phone. We were both 16. I had never seen him before. I just knew his voice. He started to threaten me, and I got afraid. He threatened to tell my family about the relationship. Because of the threats and fear, I agreed to give him a photo of myself," she recounted.

"A few months [later], I asked him for the photo back but he refused. I had gotten married to another man. He said, 'I'll give you the photo on the condition that you come out with me in my car.' I told him we could meet at a souk [market[ near my neighborhood city plaza in Qatif.

"He started to drive me home. …We were 15 minutes from my house. I told him that I was afraid and that he should speed up. We were about to turn the corner to my house when they [another car] stopped right in front of our car. Two people got out of their car and stood on either side of our car. They man on my side had a knife. They tried to open our door. I told the individual with me not to open the door, but he did. He let them come in. I screamed.

"One of the men brought a knife to my throat. They told me not to speak. They pushed us to the back of the car and started driving. We drove a lot, but I didn't see anything since my head was forced down."

"They took us to an area … with lots of palm trees. No one was there. If you kill someone there, no one would know about it. They took out the man with me, and I stayed in the car. I was so afraid. They forced me out of the car. They pushed me really hard ... took me to a dark place. Then two men came in. They said, 'What are you going to do? Take off your abaya.' They forced my clothes off. The first man with the knife raped me. I was destroyed. If I tried to escape, I don't even know where I would go. I tried to force them off but I couldn't. [Another] man … came in and did the same thing to me. I didn't even feel anything after that.

"I spent two hours begging them to take me home. I told them that it was late and that my family would be asking about me. Then I saw a third man come into the room. There was a lot of violence. After the third man came in, a fourth came. He slapped me and tried to choke me.

"The fifth and sixth ones were the most abusive. After the seventh one, I couldn't feel my body anymore. I didn't know what to do. Then a very fat man came on top of me and I could no longer breathe.

"Then all seven came back and raped me again. Then they took me home. … When I got out of the car, I couldn't even walk. I rang the doorbell and my mother opened the door. She said you look tired.' I didn't eat for one week after that, just water. I didn't tell anyone. I went to the hospital the next day.

"The criminals started talking about it [the rape] in my neighborhood. They thought my husband would divorce me. They wanted to ruin my reputation. Slowly my husband started to know what had happened. Four months later, we started a case. My family heard about the case. My brother hit me and tried to kill me."

Lawyer Punished Too

Along with the young woman's sentence, the General Court of Qatif confiscated the license of her attorney, Abdul Rahman Al-Lahem, a lawyer known for taking on controversial cases that push back against Saudi Arabia's strictly interpreted system of sharia, or Islamic law.
...
the rest of the story is here

As to why didn't she go to the police straight away...
According to the testimony published in Britain's The Independent newspaper, once the girl's husband found out about the gang rape, he told the police and appealed for the rapists to be arrested, to which a police officer said: "You go find them and investigate."

The husband telephoned the police on four separate occasions before any action was taken.

Other posters have given you these links before, several times you hav ebeen presented with reliable news sources telling you the facts. You could have found them yourself by googling ''saudi gang rape victim'' or ''saudi rape lashing'' or similar.

Fattboy, can you see why your posts have caused such offence? Is that your intention?

actually you inferred that

why so much emphasis on stonings, they happen once in a blue moon and to get caught committing adultery in the sharia u'd have to be somewhat of an idiot,

which in this case she was found to be travelling in the company of another man who was not her relation or her husband and was then (along with him) gang raped by extremeists as punishment for her percived adultery.

So although you didn't expressly say she was a bit of an idiot for being gang raped you certainly expressed the viewpoint that getting caught committing adultery and consiqunetly being gang raped was her own fault. and with your tatic refuseal to condem such an act and to say stoning as a consiquence of adultery (classified in this area of the world as being with a man not your releation or husband not having intercourse whist being married) she was a bit of an idiot...

so again. I'll ask you to clarify what exactly do you mean by being a bit of an idiot in regards to being Gang raped.

stop wriggling and answer the question.

I beleive it most certainly is.

it's an age old ploy isn't i'll pretend to be x and then present extremeist views regarding x to get people to dislike x and then they will be more likely to support the causes i truely beleive in ...

we used to have loads of them in here at one time including one called the stratigist (and many other names) who used to pretend to be isreali and then just jewish and he presented viewpoints which were abhorent to even the most harden die hard IDF general all in the vain hope of ganering support for judeophobia (anti jewish sentiment).

I think that they aren neither muslim nor infact terribly informed.

but you understand that she commit adultry both in the traditional sense as in having sex while married (unlawful unconsenual sex) and also under this perversion of islamic law by travelling in a car with a man who was not her releation or husband.

ergo

she was a bit of an idiot to commit adultery in a country with shia law.

by your own words...

you not wanting to go over it again when you have provided a reasonable account of why you thought it pertainent to mention in the first place on a thread where the discussion topic is a woman get's raped and recieves lashes doesn't cut it.

cease your wriggling and either withdraw your very stupid and too boot unislamic comment or justify why you feel that someone gang raped is a bit of an idiot.

come on now we're are all waiting.

you made the fucked up comment justify it.

A pretty balanced article from the Telegraph on Sharia in the UK here.

Personally I wouldn't mind the idea of Sharia courts dealing with divorce, marriage, financial matters, etc on an equitable basis to the Jewish system. As long as those giving advice and declarations are sufficiently qualified so that they don't break UK law (i.e. human rights). The punishment of criminal offenders must still lie with the state.
