Rugby Union 2017-18

Anyone seen this yet:

www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/wales-star-forced-withdraw-match-13696303.amp

Useless hooker of crisis region, Ospreys, sticks his hand in a lion's cage and gets it bitten, forcing him out of the game (they got beaten again!). I mean, if he wasn't shit enough already surely getting yourself mauled by African alpha predators on a photoshoot prior to a match is beyond idiotic.

The second I saw the headline I guessed it would be him, fucking numpty.

Steff Evans looked good again last night. Would like to see him and Patchell get an opportunity in the Autumn.

Patchell has shat the bed with Gats and Stan, though, hasn't he? The fact that they seemed keen to take pretty much any player ahead of him for the summer tour, even when there were significant injuries, was telling.

Steff on fire atm, totally agree.

Ospreys doing well then. Throw them to fucking lion that bit baldwin I say

Anyway.

Big discussion with a fellow rugby fan. We both came to the conclusion Warren Gatland will go this or next year. Our reasoning.

Yes hes got a watertight contract-but both think Warren wont eke that out when nothing is going right-and he has some hurdles. Including a tough 6N and some tough autumn internationals-with the boks drawing against Australia today-they may be back on the up after a few tough years?

Anyway the scenarios are:

1. He'll go after a loss to Georgia, ABs and the boks
2. He'll hold on to the job after a 1 from 3 wins but leave after 6N
3 He wont leave-stubborn prick

I cant see Wales getting past midtable next year. They'll lose to England and Ireland away. So third. Possibly fourth if they lose to France.

That will make it no win in the 6N since 2013. Yep five years ago-let that sink in

Thoughts?

Sinks has just got a 7 week suspension for his weekend incident.

We played poorly again at the weekend
He's vewy, vewy sorry, admitted doing what he'd blatantly done anyway and managed not to pull the bloke's eyeball out so gets five weeks knocked off what to me would have e been a very reasonable 12 week ban. Bullshit.

Scenario 3, obviously. Nobody gives a shit about AI performances and we're always dreadful in them.

Im not buying that and I only put that option in there cause you're nearly always wrong and I had to appease you. End of 6N . You heard it here first ;)

Watched the Ulster Connacht game last night. Tbh I felt Connacht were the much better team, despite the lack of accuracy in the lineout, too much over throwing and far too much not getting the man in the air. The game did showcase their hands though, which on a wet night were excellent. We on the other hand are as about as limited as a team could get, our inability to catch and pass at pace was exposed, and bar one good support line from Stockdale that lead to the winning try, our support was non existant. Our front five was minced the scrum, our front three are beyond average. Only treadwell showed any promise at lock. while our south african 8 was okay, he's not worth the investment. A long season for us. Will be intersting to see how far both Munster and Leinster are ahead of us today.

The Saffas/All Black test is excellent! Must have already broken the record for the longest first half in test match history. I hope the 2nd half is as good. I think the Saffas will be back up close to their best by the time of the world cup

Someone's gonna have to explain the pro 14 to me. I see that there are two conferences, but looking at the week's results Edinburgh played zebre and they're in different conferences.

Am I missing something or has the Celtic league gone all nunberwang?

What a game! Saffas were great and so close

That's the thing about those ABs, you think you're winning and they can snatch it back at the last minute. More than once we've been close, winning till the near end and bam, they come back and snatch it away.

Kudos to them. Our lot actually came third in the RC, winner ABs, then daylight, then the rest of the sides.

But most sides are catching up with them, luckily we have another game against them in a couple of weeks before the EOY tours, so am looking forward to that!

A lot of the time after they've been off their feet, hands all over the ruck or holding back defenders.

Not being a duck but I think we will as well.

Pleased to say we at least have a bunch of our injured first choice players back for the Ulster game tomorrow. Having so many players injured (19 at the peak!) that we have had to give first team debuts for academy players and cancel A league games as we couldn't field a full team is not conducive to good play!

Should be a good one. The psychology of Ulster is terrible at the moment. Can beat very good teams like the Scarlets, but struggle against poorer ones. Can't say how they view Wasps, but if you bring any sort of pack you'll mince our tight five. It's a 55/45 game at the moment, us being at home may swing it.
Have to find a pub that's showing though, BT Sports!

oh dear. More injuries (including Youngs), no losing bonus point. Le Roux a shadow of himself, Wade poor defensively, Haskell not playing well, no punch on offense, not getting any of the refs 50/50 calls (though playing away in the champions cup I'd expect nowt else)

Vague positives - Willis is turning out to be a very welcome addition. With the exception of the yellow, Bassett is in form. Robson, Daly, Hughes and Launches all finished the game uninjured
