Rugby Union 2017-18

A massive loss to Ulster. I'm hoping that he takes some time out to start coaching at my club at home Monaghan RFC. though there is talk that he may attempt to get on the panel for the county GAA team.

Will never forget that try in Cardiff. was always a joy to watch, would have made an excellent outside centre for the national team if BoD had moved to 12.

Only just seen the Haskell tackle on Roberts! ffs, 4 weeks for that is a joke.

Massive win for Scarlets and now looking like a home quarter final too. People not from this area have little to no idea of the enormity of this for Llanelli and south west Wales.

Yh massive congrats to the Scarlets, cracking win! Surely the biggest game in Welsh club rugby in years, let's hope the other regions sort themselves out and try and emulate our friends from down west.

Yup, the Scarlets deserve every accolade they can get. That Scarlets vs La Rochelle clash could very well be the match of the season, and I don't think the weather would interfere too much either.

Yes! Very surprised, interesting to see who they get in now, especially as Cardiff are also in the hunt for a new boss.
Apparently he had a 'no European qualification and fewer than two European victories' break clause in his contract, which was renewed last season. Hence them deciding to wait until the Clermont defeat to be absolutely sure.

Cardiff and the O's both need to get these next two appointments right, I really fear for the future of Welsh rugby at club level if they bollocks it up.

I can't see beyond AWJ or Tiatia at the Os. Sadly, I think both would be a bad idea. When will we learn that old boys who were great players don't make good coaches. Dai Young is an exception here, but he struggled at first before rising to his current level of mediocrity. We need someone tried and tested in both driving seats. Who, though?

Alun Wyn Jones??? One day maybe but he's got a few years playing left in him.

So Hask is leaving us at the end of the season.

Bets on where he ends up? If he plays this 6 Nations my money is on Bristol

Jono Gibbes is now coach of Ulster, a good choice imo.

I'm not so sure it is. There is something not right with the club. Putting Gibbs in that position could either be a stellar decision or it could be another nail in the Ulster coffin. I suspect the IRFU will have to step in at some point and ask for Shane Logan to be removed. The best example of the dire nature of the province is that we've failed in the last few season to acquire good overseas players, I mean Rodney Ah You despite his Irish caps is not of any standard that's required of a club that has ambition. Or we've bought injured players like Marcel Cotzee (sp). For every Ruan, we've signed a Clive Ross. Apart from Stockdale and maybe Johnny McPhilips we've not produced an academy player of note. We're getting Leinster academy cast offs like Greg Jones, Alan O'Connor and Nick Timoney. Jono for all his excellence, has lets be honest a rather shite group of players to work with, which ultimately is the fault of Logan. Logan out.

Given your income and the platform you had about two years ago I'd say both recruitment and progress have been utterly abysmal.

The Chiefs have been dire recently. It was looking like a done deal that they'd finish at the top of the table but they've been in freefall recently.

After our excellent performance at Quins I'm feeling quietly confident about playing them (at the Ricoh) next week.

And it's official, Cips is off

First interview with Sam Warburton in some time. Shows what they guy put himself through both physically and mentally to reach the heights he has and to stay there. It also shows the terrible toll on an elite player's body, especially one from the backrow that the game can exact. He's only 29, ffs.

The fact that he reckons he was playing at 70-80% for the last few years shows what a phenomenal player he is. Very much looking forward to the return of a 100% fit Sam for the WC next season.

Great interview, has always come across as the most decent for of bloke, but that injury profile is shocking. I wonder how much of it is club related, or a result of the beastings Gatland subjected them to in Spala. Of course not taking a break from the game and training in the off season will contribute too.
