Remainers: When are you taking to the streets?

I must admit I do wonder what the people in charge were thinking of, putting something like this to the popular vote. When I go to the doctors I don't want them to poll my neighbors to see what is wrong with me!

How is 'left behind britain' who voted for exit going to see these protests?

Well it might damage the sincere affection and admiration they have for the metropolitan liberals I s'pose.

Seriously, we're past that point. Long past it.

"Left behind Britain" needs to figure out what it wants, and what it's going to do to get it, sharpish because the status quo will reassert itself soon enough.

On the other hand, when I go to the doctor to see what's wrong with me, I don't want some chancer from Poland with a stethoscope telling me that I need to drink more vodka redbull

Ridiculous

You claim to 'know quite a bit about a wide range of things'; unfortunately this doesn't seem to include the differences between politics and medicine...have fun with your empty comparison.

We employ experts to make decisions for us in many areas of our lives, politics is normally no different. Why should it have been in this case?

Fuck's sake

That's as valid a comment as suggesting someone from England would prescribe pints of ale.

It worked for 200 years, now we have American medicine and doctors from god knows where and this year alone Muhammed Ali and David Bowie and Prince died thanks to so called 'European Medicine'

Shocking

You're just reaffirming what you don't know; albeit in perhaps even starker terms. As I said have fun.

However, I do think there's merit to pro-Europe/migrant/people events as a reactionto the worrying increase in "go home" sentiment, that could be attended by Remain and Leave voters (because I'm pretty sure a lot of them still like Europeans, if not the EU) alike.
There's now this, Trafalgar Square on Tue evening. Just down the road from where I work so may well pop along. Sounds like it was originally set up as a protest to the result and some are unhappy about the change.

Details
In the aftermath of Brexit, we Stand Together.

Note: This event is one of multiple Stand Together events across the country. This is not a movement that intends to be London-centric. For a full list of other events, see the bottom of this message.

__What Is This?__

This isn’t a protest for a second referendum, or a protest about the Leave vote. It’s a chance to come together, show unity, and reflect.

We will be gathering on Tuesday night in Trafalgar square to reflect, discuss, and connect.

__Why?__

There’s been much sorrow and anger after the referendum result. Whilst understandable, we believe it’s now time to come together.

It's sad also to think that some people across Europe now think of Britain as non-inclusive, closed and inward-looking. We believe that Britain is better than that.

Stand Together is our mark of showing that - in consideration of the EU Referendum result - we stand alongside the people of Europe to show we are inclusive, open and patient to all, regardless of age, gender, race, demography, location, and whether they voted Leave or Remain.

We believe that the best way forward is to understand people’s emotions and reasonings, and allowing for a space to reflect on the past and the actions leading to the referendum outcome. In doing so, we hope to help change the dialogue from something negative and divisive to one of hope.

We want to stand in solidarity with the entirety of the UK and Europe to say we’re here, we’re open, and wanting to understand how best to go forward in a positive manner.

__The Event Itself__

More details to follow, but expect speakers, music and debate.

__Principles__

This an event for the people, and to follow our ethos of not dictating what people should do or think, we’ve written the following principles:

1. Participation: This is an event for all, and so all - whether Remain, Leave, or other - are welcome.
2. Positivity: We promote positivity around the referendum, not wishing to blame, and always with the mindset of wanting to find creative ways of looking to the future. We do not base prejudice based a person’s decision to vote.
3. Leave no trace: We want to commit to leaving no physical trace of our presence after we gather – and so clean up after ourselves.
4. Non-partisan politics: We believe healthy debate with the political system is vital, however this is not a space for partisan politics. We don’t believe one party or politician has all of the answers, and we don’t expect them to. Instead, uniting with a single message of positivity.

We have invited UK and Europe to stand with us, and as such there are a number of other events happening to reflect this idea.

__What You Can Do__

More details to follow, but for the time being, please spread the message of this event, and in particular the recent name change.

Are you just pulling random words out of a bag or are you just chugging vodka

Here's one already on the street. A lovely girl but have to say she doesn't do the remainers any favours and seems quite confused about the cost of travel to France.

Didn't the SWP support Leave? Not that she's a member, obviously, but they never miss a chance with those placards.

Here's another one, he thinks Lidl will be withdrawn. OMG, how are the brits going to eat when ALL trade is cut off from europe.

Who's thick?

Seems to be two still organised in London, this and next saturday, both look organised by individuals and not usual suspects, so plod will walk all over them until John Rees turns up and explains how to lose properly
