Valverde will be 41 this year and he came 3rd in yesterdays Volta Catalunya. Pretty remarkable. Maybe it was all those drugs he took early in his career?
He's over a year older than Roger Federer even. Should be another intense mountain battle today.
Another QS tactics masterclass today.
More in the MoS tmrw.I think I first maintained Sky were doping on here in 2014 and nobody believed...
In related news this is completely normal for a 26 year old apparently.

Hard to call, there’s a lot of riders really in form right now. Gonna be a crackerRONDE
Whose going to win?
I hope (and mostly think) Ala though there could be a surprise Bettiol type figure whose been having a good cobble season but flying under the radar. With Roubaix cancelled it's going to be even more competitive.
Look on the bright side - more chance of it rainingP-R postponed until oct. :-(
France isn’t doing great at the moment and seems to be clamping down hard. Even Paris-Nice had to change the final 2 days route iirc Better to move it later in the year than have unnecessary risk...They've managed to run races in Belgium, Paris-Nice etc, it's disappointing.
And there is a higher likelihood of people being injured as well.France isn’t doing great at the moment and seems to be clamping down hard. Even Paris-Nice had to change the final 2 days route iirc Better to move it later in the year than have unnecessary risk...
Bit of a difference between inevitable crowds spreading covid, to professional sports people choosing to throw themselves down the Arenberg Trench...And there is a higher likelihood of people being injured as well.
And they’re off. Settling in for a full day of racing
Boom
Yeah, that must have took some nerve to keep holding back until as late as he did.I had faith. I reckon he got well talked through that by a team car with a couple of canny old heads in it.

What a beautiful document. Tom Steels was so calm in the car!
I really hope these rumours of a Specialized-brokered deal bringing Sagan to DQS are untrue. I fear he'd ruin that team spirit and anyway is he any better than guys like Senechal and Lampaert these days?
I don’t think Sagan brings anything but disruption to the Wolfpack but Specialized are such an important sponsor for DQS they will get their way.
