I'm looking forward to the mammoth. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to go to Siberia and see the frozen mammoths.


I did eventually get to Siberia. I'm afraid to say I was probably drunk the entire time. Saw no mammoths .

on the subject of frozen things from the dawn of time I watched the Ice Man autopsy doc a while back. They brought him back to room temp to do investigations then froze him again before an rot could start. There was scientists from every discipline queuing up to have a look at him. It looks like he was leaving a holding to make a mountain trek- was just idly making his arrows and shit on the way, then he got snipered unseen. Still had a full belly of grains. It didn't look like he was fleeing, rather that he was followed and murdered.

interesting how small the corpse was. Thats a full grown alpha male of the time and it's tiny! Makes me wonder, we see those middle ages suits of armour in castles and they wouldn't fit a large 12 year old now. We used to be a lot smaller.

A lot of that would be down to a lack of protein (or at least animal protein) during childhood and adolescence, it's certainly not down to genes alone or people would still be short.
