Paralympics - Who's Going?

We're off to watch some swimming tomorrow!
Just watching some coverage on 4 now to get in the spirit....

I have no idea what that means, Minnie...the whole thing has been so shrouded in secrecy. He's been incommunicado in an Olympic hotel for the last couple of days.....

picked up tickets for Excel tomorrow - have a day pass but can't get the day off so heading down there after work - can't remember what is on there - i'll let it be a surprise

yep, got the travel card - and there's been a development - friends have now given us day passes to the Stadium for tomorrow:) I assume we can use their tickets ? might try and make it to both places - what's the best way to get from the stadium to excel?

DLR straight up I would have thought

I didn't think you could get a Day Pass for the Olympic Stadium :hmm:

You either have an Olympic Park Day Pass or an Olympic Stadium Pass, not both

no idea what we have yet - friend is emailing tickets to mrs21 apparently

Ah

Hopefully Marty can do that then
I think if I had printed it myself (they did email me) then I wouldn't have got the travel card - went down to the ticket office in Westminster - queued for about 30 minutes - got there at 5.30 - the queue wasn't very long when I arrived - but was pretty long when I left - about 300 strong I think

now can I use the travel card to get the Javelin to the Olympic park? or is it only for use to the Excel centre?

Hm, sounds like lots of people may be collecting tickets after work then.

I'm going to collect mine tomorrow but think I'll head up mid afternoon

It covers Zones 1-9 so you can use it all day wherever you like within the zones. However, it looks like Stratford International is slightly further away from the Stadium, but if you're young and fit (or old and fit), it shouldn't be a problem

Spectators with a ticket for a London 2012 sports event or ceremony in or around London will receive a free Games Travelcard.

This is valid for use on public transport in London zones 1–9 on the day of your event. It can be used on London Underground, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway, buses, trams and National Rail services – but not on Heathrow, Stansted or Gatwick Express trains, or for taxis/private hire vehicles.

You will be able to use your Games Travelcard on the Javelin® service between St. Pancras and Stratford International stations and to and from Watford Junction, and will be entitled to one-third off the cost of the 2012 Games river bus express or the 2012 Games river tour service

They're letting people just show their Print@Home tickets for travel now, without having to have the actual Travelcard.

Games Travelcards are valid on the Javelin trains (between St. Pancras and Stratford International), yes. Normal Travelcards you can't.

Someone else's tickets?
someone else bought the tickets and can't go - my tickets for excel have my name on them - are there security issues? will they think I'm a wrong un up to no good if I turn up at the park with these tickets bought by someone else?

and we can use someone else's tickets to go to the Olympic Park?

If you don't have travelcards, then you must have the Olympic Park tickets and NOT Olympic Park Day Pass.

However, as a Olympic Park ticket only cost £5, and therefore don't come with a free travelcard, then they might object. So in short, I have absolutely no idea!

You could always plead ignorance if ticket inspectors get on and say your friend gave you them so you assumed they came with the paralympic tickets.
