It was good, I liked the science bits and Steven Hawking, but it was very long. I feel sorry for any atheletes that have to compete tommorrow!
Was it you who ran that thread about picking small nations who only have a few atheletes entered? I think you should do it again!! there were quite a few in the procession with just one or two atheletes. Most of those who compete the next day don't bother with Opening Ceremonies. Think I read that the cyclists wouldn't be attending
I'm not sure what that means? That is the most English post I've ever read on these boards, and that's going some
Tory Edwina Currie was at the centre of a Twitter storm tonight after making “patronising” comments about Italy’s Paralympic athletes.
The former Junior Health Minister tweeted during the Paralympics opening ceremony: “Italians are gorgeous even in wheelchairs. Love ‘em”

Oh, ok ...
Btw, the Olympic cauldron truly is a wonder, absolutely stunning..
Edwina? Making a stupid and crass remark? How totally out of character!

Why would anyone other than John Major follow Edwina on twitter?
No idea re trains but tubes are running till about 0230 during the games
I believe they are running a similar service as the Olympics which will mean trains until about 2am, they also have standby trains at the mainline stations to run if needed.
Was McKellen parlt chosen becuse his second most famous role is as th leader of amazing 'mutants'? Or is that just me (sorry if thats been done before)
It obviously wasn't important enough for the BBC. That's the crux of the matter. Says it all.
However, two years after losing the TV rights to the Paralympics regret still runs deep at the BBC, with one senior TV industry executive describing it as "one of the biggest mistakes of all time".
"From a remit and prominence point of view it has to be viewed as one of the biggest mistakes of all time for the BBC," he said. "It is part of the BBC's remit to support exactly this sort of minority event, and given the massive momentum of the Olympics it is a giant lost opportunity to not be able to continue seamless weeks of promotion to drive the Paralympics after such a spectacular Olympics."
