Paralympics - Who's Going?

someone else bought the tickets and can't go - my tickets for excel have my name on them - are there security issues? will they think I'm a wrong un up to no good if I turn up at the park with these tickets bought by someone else?

Sorry, getting mixed up. I read up on this the other day and yes you can, as long as the person can be contacted on the day to verify if they decide they want to check

I don't think it matters. No one will check that it's your name on the ticket.....or at least they didn't when I went to the Olympics. It does say in the T&C that they could ask for you to show ID with your ticket, but apparently they never do.....so I've been told. I'm not sure what happens if it's a female name on the ticket and you're a male (or vice versa) though.

If you don't have travelcards, then you must have the Olympic Park tickets and NOT Olympic Park Day Pass.

However, as a Olympic Park ticket only cost £5, and therefore don't come with a free travelcard, then they might object. So in short, I have absolutely no idea!

You could always plead ignorance if ticket inspectors get on and say your friend gave you them so you assumed they came with the paralympic tickets.

IGNORE
but i have a travel card for the excel tickets!

cheers :)

Where does it say that?

I don't know. I'm trying to find it on the help page but having trouble. Definitely found it somewhere

Think about it logically. Someone might buy tickets for the family, but may all arrive at different times. They're not all going to have their name on the tickets, only whoever bought the ticket

I've not been able to get into my account all night. I realised hours ago that I didn't receive email confirmation for my Orbit and Athletics tickets so am trying to confirm they're there but can't get in :(

Alex Zanardi is an athlete!

What I read was that you go can go on a ticket that someone else bought, but they had to be accompanying you. It's probably a rule that's not enforced.

You should have got the confirmation straight after you booked the the ticket....at least on the website. You booked by phone didn't you?

The website is probably too busy with people searching for tickets. It happened during the Olympics.

Well that's one of the reasons I got my sister tickets on the same day we're going, just in case that was the case.

Yeah, booked by phone. Can't remember if I looked at account though.

I know I got the seat number, row and block etc. as I remember looking it up after he gave me details of seating. Hope there hasn't been a fuck-up and my tickets have been sold to someone else. :hmm:

Found it, on the Guardian website

Can I transfer tickets to someone else?

Officially, tickets are non-transferable. However, London 2012 terms and conditions state that: "Providing you as the lead booker are contactable on the day in case of query, a member of your family or a friend may use tickets you can no longer use."

How much did you pay for that?

£60 for the two of them

Of course, the disadvantage is that she doesn't get to see the whole stadium from up high and get to take photos of the whole track, but at least she gets closer to the action. Furthermore, she's near one of the bends, so she might get to see some batons dropped :D

My view at the Olympics!

Does anyone know what time the Closing Ceremony actually starts and finishes? The ticket says 7:30-10.30pm (and that's what it said on the ticket website), but other places (including the official website) say 8.30-11.30 pm.

But she'll be closer to the athletes. Where I was sitting you could hardly tell who was who.

Row 66

Looking at the right of your picture, it looks like there's a separate block (just above half way up). Wonder if that's wheelchair seating? :hmm:

I said that already (she gets closer to the action) :D

Probably good that she's right at the front as well as she can escape earlier as she lives in Thornton Heath so no tube. :D

IIRC that's where all the media were sitting. A lot of those spaces have gone to spectators this time (that's why some people are getting a free-standing chair and a table). I've no idea where the wheelchair places are, and they've reorganised things since the Olympics.

A table would have been handy. Himself could have had laid his head down and had a kip :D

Can't figure out whether Row 25 is going to be at the back of a block or just in a big block solely for wheelchairs or whether Row 25 is the front of another tier and all the way around the stadium :hmm:

Bungle

Do you know how long it took you to get out of the stadium and to the station or did you go and see other stuff after?

Trying to work out train times.

I got out of the stadium fairly quickly actually. There's lots of exits for everyone in the stadium to disperse through. Once I got out it was a case of walking with the crowd to the station. Even though there was a lot of people you could still walk along fairly swiftly. At points, near the station, and when entering it, the crowd had to wait for a minute or two. I've no idea how long it took tbh. It can't have been that much longer than normal. This was to Stratford International btw.

These events have a tendency to over-run though. My athletics over-ran by about 20 minutes iirc.

10 minutes, 20 minutes, 40 minutes? :D

Sister's session finishes at 10.00pm whereas mine says 11.00pm. Seems a bit unfair she gets an hour less :D
