Paralympics Chit Chat

Doesn't look like a lot's been released tonight.

If you've got nothing to do, nowhere to be, they sometimes release them at silly hours in the morning (3.00am, 5.00am, 8.00am, any time really). Doesn't seem to be a set pattern

PS: Did you do a test audio alert?

Yes, it gave me several alerts but each time when I clicked through to the link it said nothing available. Oh except maybe once when there were tickets for £40 or something.

That's the time you get on to the phone to check

The website gets overloaded so there's no point relying on it solely

Thought that the commentator eulogising Pistorius before the race might come back to haunt him. Pistorius wasn't too gracious in defeat.

Oscar Pistorius is beaten! He's not very happy about it either.

If you read the info on the site it mentions about the site being cached, and to try opening the link in a separate browser window.

Also when one of the tickets I bought took a few seconds to appear on the site after the alert. Personally I'd stick with the website over the phone because it's quicker, and there is such a high demand.

Oscar got a right old whinge on there. Tough luck big man, you lost to someone using your tactic.

Yeah. He was fading and then the Brazillian fella put him under pressure. Must be a shitter for him, but his comments seemed more than a little unsporting :(

Whitehead's category is for above knee amputees (or similar) while Pistorius' category is for below knee amputees (or similar) apparently.

Yep. That's why you see much different styles of running. Below knee amputees have a more 'standard' running style, whereas above knee tend to look like their legs are flapping out cos it all comes from the hips. It's fucking educational this tbf :)

Yep, Iwan Thomas saying that it needs to be looked into because Oscar isnt like that - but when was the last time he lost? Poor form.

Agree with this. On the other hand the divides between the various levels of competition in any given Paralympic event can seem a bit arbitrary.

Oh yes, definitely try opening with something different. I always use Firefox and couldn't see any tickets coming up so switched to Chrome.

As for whether website or phone is better, it's hit and miss with either to be honest. I was often on the website and phone at the first time

Yep - defo check on 2 browsers. I was on Chrome and there were none, and then switched to Safari and there were.

Not the first time a South African's been annoyed by an Oliveira.

Oliveira. D'Oliveira. Doesn't quite work. Damn.

Pistorius doesn't have much of a case. He ran faster and broke the world record in the semi. Peaked one race too too early.

Ah, he's still got his other races to go. I reckon he'll win one or more of them, although it would be good if Jonnie Peacock beat him, and there's always Jerome Singleton and the other South African

My sister gets to watch him on Tuesday.

I've just realised I get two Pistorius races on Wednesday - 100m (not the final though) and 4x100m (and Oliveira's in that race as well)

Had a brilliant night in my local last night, the rowers are all staying at the nearby Uni campus and having finished their events, took over the pub.

Must have been around 6 or 7 different countries, all getting pissed, dancing and chatting each other up (some definite pent-up 'energy' being released from what we saw on the dancefloor and in the garden :D). Was nattering away to loads of them in the smoking area about their events, didn't get home til gone 2am, not a bad way to spend a sunday night at all

I read yesterday that all 1,700 condoms at the Village had been used. Only 1,700? Do they think paralympians don't shag?

Pathetic apology from Pistorious this morning. Apologising for the 'timing' of this comments but not for making them. As far as I can see he has no basis at all for complaint.. or am I wrong?

Well someone tweeted last night that his excuse of Oliveira being able to take longer strides didn't hold up as apparently Pistorius took fewer strides than Oliveira
