Paralympics Chit Chat

Anyone seen the Adam Hills clip/animation about paralympic swimming?

I'd have loved to have seen that in real life

Today I learnt that the music in the TV trailer is Public Enemy. And there was some great stuff on Sunday Brunch with explanation of some of the equipment and how it needs to be tailor made to each individual.

A bit disappointing that Channel 4 has chosen not to carry on their John Snow Olympic programme during the weekend. It's not like they could possibly run out of stuff for a half hour programme :(

Ah, I haven't been following that. It might be something to do with the fact that Channel 4 has the broadcasting rights so maybe trying to balance it a bit before going into full-on Paralympics soon? Don't know though.

It's only a half hour show though, and it's not like it's on loads of channels like the Olympics

Loads have been released (including athletics)

Unfortunately, the extortionate wheelchair line now cuts you off telling you they have availability in whatever and that this phone call will shortly disconnect. So not only is it saving you money on the phone, it's saving you money by not allowing you to book any wheelchair spaces :facepalm::facepalm:

Better luck tomorrow.

Probably won't bother as cyling finishes on the 2nd and all my tickets are for 4th onwards. Don't think I won't to go there a 4th day!

Just going to have to hope the weather holds for the athletics :hmm:

Everything else I've picked is inside in the warm :D

Did I hear that correctly? :hmm:

Got TV on in background and I'm sure woman on the news said everyone going to opening ceremony tonight is going to be given an apple and at some stage they're all going to be asked to take a bite :D

I can see newspaper reports tomorrow - The Big Crunch

ah

Giant inflatable apples will "play with gravity" in all sorts of ways, at which point the crowd and those watching on television will be invited to take part in the "world's largest ever apple crunch".

Tight game tonight. The basketball looks as bad for potential injuries as the able bodied one, especially the lower back ouch

I just caught the very end of the GB Basketball game (I was watching Sinbad). It looked really good I wish I'd watched all of it now. I might watch the GB v Canada game tomorrow.

I did go to the Basketball at the Olympics: France v Algeria and GB v China.

Did you see what happened to Jody Cundy in the Velodrome? He had a mis-start, and after a lengthy discussion. and an examination of the bike, it was ruled that the mistake was his and he got disqualified! He was seriously pissed off! The crowd wasn't pleased either, they all started booing. We'd just sat watching 21 other riders in the Time Trial and no doubt everyone was waiting to see him (he came out last).

I was there! I did get to see Mark Colbourne win Gold though!

This is seriously one of the most amazing things that I have ever seen and made me feel a bit teary/proud of people.

I don't need to even watch that as I know Lu Dong wins as do a lot of the ones who have no arms.

Adam Hills did a sketch on it (well not Lu Dong, but another Chinese one from the Beijing Games who is also in this Games I think)

The same problem, and they're only allowed one restart. I guess they thought they fixed it, but it wasn't.
