Palestine solidarity demos in the UK

Didn't even realise there was a "March Against Antisemitism" happening in Manchester, but apparently Naamod and Jewish Action for Palestine were blocked from joining it:
On Sunday, a group of Jews from Na'amod and @jewishaction4palestinemcr joined the March Against Antisemitism in Manchester. We were distressed to be blocked from the main march by @cst_uk and the Jewish Representative Council who would not let us hold our banners at the rally.
We believe that all Jews should be safe and have a place in the struggle against antisemitism. We also believe that our safety as Jews is interlinked with the safety of others.
As Hillel said, “If we are not for ourselves, who will be for us? But if we are only for ourselves, who are we? And if not now? When?”
The Jewish Representative Council claims to represent the diverse Jewish communities of Greater Manchester, yet we are very concerned to be excluded due to our views on the actions of the Israeli government.
As Rabbi Josh Levy has said: “the multiple voices that make Judaism the rich tradition that it is; it is about the broadness of Judaism’s shoulders which allows it to carry different forms and views, and always has done; it is about the different ways in which Jewishness has been expressed through thousands of years of Jewish life, and the continuing ability of our tradition to evolve and grow in exciting ways”
The offending banner:

Demo (maybe a dozen people with a megaphone) outside Barclays at the Angel earlier calling for people to boycott them (apparently Barclays invests in companies that supply arms to the Israeli regime). Also handing out flyers for this next week.

Well done, St Thomas'. I wonder how long it will stay up.
Presumably had Trust level approval. Just looked at the non exec directors and the chair is the usual corporate blah blah with a 'passion for the NHS'. The deputy chair is a Labour peer, probably a Blairite from her biog, but won't be as terrified as the MPs to defy the kieth line.

Netpol commissed a report into the overreach of policing at Palestine solidarity protests

Calling for responses - closing date 29th February

Send us your testimony

If you have attended Palestine solidarity protests anywhere in England and Wales – not just the national and regional marches but local actions too – and experienced any of the following during or in the immediate aftermath, we want to hear from you:

  • Police pressure on Palestine solidarity public meeting venues (and the reasons given)
  • Filming by police of local rallies or marches
  • Home or workplace visits by police to prominent campaigners
  • Police racism, including the targeting of campaigners from Muslim backgrounds and other racialised communities
  • Warnings given to young people about attending demonstrations
  • Police action following referrals to the government’s ‘Prevent’ programme over concerns about “radicalisation”
  • Police officers challenging the wording of placards, banners, chants and leaflets at demonstrations (including officers insisting protesters wait for ‘specialist officers’)
  • Arrests and charges for alleged racially aggravated offences or ‘hate crimes’
  • Arrests under counter-terrorism legislation, including for alleged support for Hamas
  • Arrests and charges arising from direct action and civil disobedience
  • Excessive force used to make arrests
  • Other concerns you may have about the conduct of police officers
You can share your evidence and testimony by writing a statement or sharing video and securely emailing it to palestinereport@protonmail.com.

Netpol also has a secure form you may prefer to use at: https://shorturl.at/nHUZ6

PA trial starting in Nottingham soon:
During our siege of Leicester’s Israeli weapons factory in May 2023, dozens of actionists were arrested.

Elbit’s Leicester factory, UAV Tactical Systems, is owned by Israel’s biggest weapons producer. The murder factory manufactures drones which are “battle-tested” on the Palestinian people.

In response to our mass action, the police arrested several people for allegedly breaching a section 14 order.

Now, eight of them will stand trial and fight to prove #ElbitIsGuilty, they are not!

Support them from 9.30AM on the 7th, 9th and 12-20th February 2024 at Nottingham Magistrates court, NG2 1EE

Moving short documentary of an Israeli Jewish woman, now living in UK, who has been to all the demos for Palestine

She grew up in Israel. Of German background.

Gradually became disenchanted with it.

She became an anti Zionist. And now supports Palestinians. Wants them to be able to return to the land stolen from them ( her words). And says Israel is an Apartheid state. Which is based on her experience growing up in Israel.
