One Rule for the Rich: heir to TetraPak empire gets off possessing 52g of Coke!

I thought the possibly more bizarre thing was trying to take crack and heroin into the US embassy. WTF?

thats what i thought - was he planning on a quick toot in the loos or something?

I do think its a bit unfair that he was completely let off, as a normal user on the street caught with crack, coke, and smack wouldn't be treated the same way. However i don't think he should've been charged with dealing or anything like that, as although it was a large amount of charlie it probably was for personal use. I mean, if i was loaded i wouldnt go on buying eighths of weed and grams of mandy, i'd buy a decent amount so it was there when i needed it!

And now the entire case has been formally fucking dropped!

The drugs prosecution of the heir to the multi-billion pound Tetra Pak empire has been formally dropped.

Hans Kristian Rausing, 45, who stands to inherit his Swedish father's £5.4bn drinks carton firm, was charged with possessing Class A drugs in April.

Last month he and his wife Eva Louise Rausing, 44, who faced similar charges, were given a police caution instead.

The pair, of Chelsea, west London, were arrested when Mrs Rausing was caught with drugs at the US embassy in London.

At City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, District Judge Timothy Workman ruled that the matter had been discontinued.

It's an obscene abuse of power and privilege.

Fuck's sake. 10g of crack. 2.5g of heroin. Found while going into the US embassy. Let alone the 50g of coke at home. But clearly...
The policy and practice surrounding conditional cautions is applied consistently to both rich and poor.

still surprised they weren't done as narco-terrorists at that point. suicide caners intending to lay themselves explosively low with a massive infusion of shitty drugs. would have shaken some state or other to the lowest of the low...

I wonder how long she's been on the pipe?

I like the nineteenth century quote "In England justice is open to all-just like the Ritz"
Taking wraps into the US embassy? common sense would suggest dealing to the staff.

Following a caution?

That'd always be the end of criminal prosecution, irrespective of power and wealth.

The caution is the sanction, following an admission of guilt.

If it's a separate case that's been entirely dropped, then obv that's a different matter.

e2a: ah. I see I missed the 2008 / 2012 divide there.

btw, the Mail's reportage kinda reminded me of the coverage of the 'children burnt in benefits fire were asking for it' coverage.

Prince Charles once argued that his friend Eva Rausing should be given ‘a second chance’. In truth, she had many chances and they were all squandered.

Few who knew Eva and her husband Hans Kristian will be surprised at the tragic and premature nature of her end.

That must be the only thing in the Mail I can ever remember agreeing with. Mega-rich junkie dies - who gives a shit?

tbf I know someone who got off with 80 odd grams of wonkeh.

He claimed he was an addict, which 80 grams could be believable for though. He was an addict too.

This was on Sky News all last night while I was in the pub. Every five minutes, it was "VERY RICH WOMAN DIES", and it was on the ticker constantly. Mind you, Sky News always manages to irritate me whatever the situation.

52g's as personal,ha ha, i got remanded to fraggle rock because the French git I was with pleaded guilty, two lines which I disposed of,a whole line of Coppers said it was about a teaspoon full.Didn't help that the car was owned by some Iranians and I was repairing it after said Frenchmans girlfriend crashed it while on a test drive.(I think we were the first people arrested by Operation Swamp)

I suppose it depends on where the powder is contained. If the 52 gs are all in a bag it's easier to claim personal than if the 52 gs are all divided into separate wraps which would indicate intent to supply.

Arf,even at retail prices £2000 of crack is 100 rocks ,personal I don't think so.
