In defence of Cristiano Ronaldo (words I never thought I'd type) his time in the PL started as a very raw 18yr old playing almost exclusively on the wing in a more traditional sense, as a provider. Like just about every player (inc Messi) it took a couple of seasons before he took on the mantle of goalscorer in chief and his numbers skyrocketed, right before he left
Salah had his slow start at Chelsea but for a small number of games only (including bizarrely as a wing back on occasion) but on his return to the PL he was ready to hit the ground running and playing in the now prime goalscoring position of inverted wide forward. Not exactly comparing apples with apples - a better comparison would be with Ronaldo's start at Real Madrid.
