Nadine Dorries: Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport

In fact this reminds me of disgraced cumbucket Jeffrey Archer (remember him?), who according to Private Eye, has always furiously demanded he’s addressed as Lord Archer by everyone at all times, even after he became a convicted criminal.

And even funnier is the fact that deluded aspirational Tory cunts like her will be bitter for the rest of their lives for failing to secure the peerage they so much desire, undoubtedly thinking they won’t be esteemed as highly by future historians as they think they should be seen as, and don’t actually realise that even in this class-obsessed country, you can still go down in history as a surplus sack of shit regardless of your titles.
And the funny thing is that she's shredding any reputation she had - not that she had any in the first place. Its just so fucking childish.

It's never a good look for something to essentially expect a peerage. It just looks tawdry and deeply self-entitled.

It is an extremely sad and worrying state of affairs when you realise that regardless of how despised or at least fundamentally objectionable Tory politicians of times past were to most of us, nowadays they actually come across as acceptable human beings and sufficiently honest members of a country’s political parliamentary makeup when you compare them with most of the current lot in the Tory Party.

I agree - she is an deeply unpleasant MP.

The best thing about all of this is that Dorries will go down in history as a self-entitled idiot who had a tantrum that she didn't get a peerage.
Self entitled. Me? In press today..

"Ms Dorries said she was standing down as the MP for Mid Bedfordshire in June but later said she would not formally resign until she got more information about why she was denied a peerage"

Government bureaucracy nowadays really is a disgrace. Now there has to be health and safety involvement, union involvement, reviews, consideration of whether or not a commercial process could be used instead and multiple layers of approval and potential redrafting before a minister signs it off.

Fifty years ago they'd have just have had some undersecretary type up "ITS BECAUSE YOU ARE A GOBSHITE, MADAM" and sent it to her as O.H.M.S

Tried a snippily written email ? Won't achieve anything but may make you feel better. Have pondered emailing her myself and we live nowhere near her constituency !
I did send an email, when she did reality television 🤔

A lot of local people have tried emailing her, and had no response.
Not desperately unexpected of course but I do enjoy a bit of pestering when someone's obviously being a self-obsessed dick. Commiserations, I hope you don't actually need representation in parliament for the duration.

If the residents of Flitwick and Sheffird want something done, why don't they go for a recall?

don't think she has done anything that can trigger a recall petition (more here) - an MP has to have done something specific to allow a recall, and just not turning up for x amount of time isn't one of them, nor is 'crossing the floor' and joining another party - i can see merit in both being legitimate grounds.

there is an argument for making recalls easier, but then you might get marginal seats where enough people don't like the result to set off recalls at frequent interval for no other reason, or far right groups constantly trying to start recalls against 'minority' MPs.

The irony is, all this nonsense was a combination of entitlement and supporting their fallen hero the loathsome johnson. I'll bet he's moved on and isn't even taking her calls.

"Dorries claims she is 'working daily' on behalf of her constituents as calls for her resignation continue

Nadine Dorries has said she is “working daily” on behalf of her constituents. She made the comment in a statement she released to the News Agents podcast, in response to repeated claims, including from within her own party, that she should resign because she is neglecting her duty as an MP.

The controversy has been rumbling on for weeks now, and generally Dorries has not been responding to complaints about her record, or questions from the media. She has not addressed the issue in her Daily Mail column and, even though at one point she was a hyper-active user of Twitter, her recent activity on the platform has been very limited, and more focused on hedgehogs.

But Dorries told the News Agents she has not given up on her work as an MP. In the statement she said:

'Myself and my team of four caseworkers are working daily with constituents. I understand that political opponents, such as Labour-run Flitwick town council, are choosing the summer and news hungry outlets in the summer recess to be noticed. However we are just getting on with the work.'"

Maybe the big money offers haven't exactly been rolling in. If she waits till the gen election is called (to resign), iirc the pay off is larger than if she goes now.
