Not forever though, 10-15 years ago it was quite enjoyable and political discussion was mostly limited to taking the piss out of people on Question Time (before it got obsessed with immigration and platforming ‘edgy’ twats for attention), or weirdos swooning over Ed Milliband. It felt like a community of like minds for a while, mostly harmless. I think certain ‘wedge issues’ like Brexit and US elections changed the tone, probably by design to some extent, and all the arseholes jumped onboard. But you’re right that it was like this long before Musk, he didn’t make it that way, just wanted to buy it so ‘his side’ could gain an advantage.

The most expensive soap box in history. But I don't think he ever wanted to buy it. He just spewed some shit that got him lumped him with it.
It had definitely seen its glory days a long time before he came on the scene. It's probably ~10 years since I first noticed how toxic the place is, and I only ever glanced at it.

Certainly with the trump lot and anti-vax nutters, they’ll believe any old shit they see on YouTube, an advertisers dream.
