My point in relation to the quote that someone from the Mirror "was referred to GMP" was that it is likely because they were actually directed to the NW counter-terrorism unit, not that GMP have taken over everything from Merseyside for some mysterious reason.

Hastings we had a fisherman who dredged up old bits of ww2 ordinance who thought the best plan was to take a cab to the local TA centre and present the sentry with what he found.
1st time had to wait till 4am till the Bomb squad took it away.

not read full thread so may have already been mentioned - Read that the bomb went off at 11am - so may have been timed to go off during the remembrance sunday service - and indicating that the Liverpool cathedral service was the target. Very grim if that is the case and strongly indicates it was jihadis.

Good video that; car skids in to area in front of hospital entrance, then a small explosion goes off in the back which looks like it blows the windows of the taxi out, then the driver gets out and runs/staggers away with what I imagine is bad earache and some singed hair.

The driver clearly didn't "get out of his cab and lock the passenger in the vehicle" as his supposed friend on Facebook allegedly said.

Driver had his ear blown off. Sewn back on minor head wounds and eventually discharged from hospital. Also the position of the taxi in the ITN video suggests some off the original photos are from earlier footage.

Reports I read earlier that he had to have his ear or ears stitched back on. Burst ear drums and other nasty but non life threatening injuries.

Which if accurate does indicate something went pop rather than just fizz.

I do find it a little odd that if the cab driver wanted to divert a bomber from a remembrance ceremony he decided that it would be a good idea to pull up at a hospital.....but who knows.

The BBC report states that the taxi driver picked the bomber up with the destination of the Liverpool Women's Hospital. That's what got me thinking. It wasn't a diversion. That was the original destination.
