When the imam sat for a break the people started screaming him down and the camera panned away

The one I heard about on tv had the imam warn that if they do not like what their leader does they must not attack them with swords but wait and know that they will die as an infidel.

The sort of stuff coming through is mixed.

Some people have found army/tanks/security outside mosques when they came out.

If this is true then Gadaffi's is in serious trouble. The guardian blog has this to say

If Mitiga air base near Tripoli is confirmed as having gone over to the Libyan popular uprising it would be a serious blow for the regime close to the heart of the capital. The military base is adjacent to a civilian airport used for domestic and some short-haul international flights.

Mitiga has figured before at dramatic moments in Libyan history. It was a primary target of the US bombing in 1986 — retaliation for Libyan involvement in alleged terrorist attacks on US servicemen in Europe. Soviet personnel were based the during the cold war. Until shortly after Gaddafi's 1969 revolution June 1970, the US air force used the facility, then known as Wheelus air base.

Who knows... there is no civil society at the moment... no political parties, no trade unions... I would image the Western powers would be pushing for a return of the Royal family... I don't know how much regard they are held in the country as a whole...
